Although I am wondering why Godzilla was being shot at in the first place. Didn't he save humans twice now? Could be that some humans wanted to try to be on top of the predator list again, or..

Like starsteam said, it holds back much more than I expected it to, which is a pleasant surprise and refreshing. It focuses entirely on Godzilla and Kong and the fact that they will fight.

He's also directed better stuff! His filmography is fairly mixed in terms of quality. Besides, this is a mega-budget blockbuster which is a much more (or I should say even more) collaborative effort with many moving parts, and any director that isn't Spielberg or Nolan-level won't have 100% creative control anyway.

Trailer's okay. The song choice was stupid and off putting though.

After how awful the last godzilla and kong movies were, I have little to no expectations for this.
