Mitchell Trubisky, come on down.

BR: Aaron Rodgers Rumors: Packers QB Wants New Contract Amid 'Uncertain' Future

Quote:
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Rodgers wants a new contract on the heels of a dominant regular season that will almost certainly net him his third career NFL MVP award.

Florio noted that Rodgers is under contract through 2023 but is due to make just $23.2 million in 2021, $25.5 million in 2022, and $25.5 million in 2023, which are low numbers compared to what most top quarterbacks will make during that stretch.

Rodgers is fifth among NFL quarterbacks in "new-money value" at $33.5 million per year behind Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks and Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the NBA's problem turned into a NFL problem also. These guys sign their name on these multi million dollars deals then renege on them like it doesn't matter.

Why should a player sit idly by while an organization wastes their career?

Because they play a game for a living. Going to the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP and blowing it 4 times like the Rodgers led Packers.....

I wouldn’t say that being competitive every year is “wasting a career”

Aaron Rodgers 1-4 in NFC championship games. Choked again.

I see the issue being brought up more regarding the Deshaun Watson situation, but even with Rodgers, this is an organization that has perpetually neglected to draft him high-round weapons and played entire seasons with sub-par defenses. And in this most recent game, which was totally winnable late, they took the game out of his hands when it counted the most. I still think Rodgers stayed in Green Bay, but I'd totally understand if he's just tired of the hands he's dealt there.

GB has had two HOF QBs back-to-back between Favre and Rodgers and only managed to get two Super Bowls wins out of them. I get that reaching the conference title game 4+ times is still objectively "successful" but there's absolutely been wasted potential during Rodgers' career.

That’s nonsense. He’s had weapons his whole career. Dan Marino is a guy that got robbed of that....Rodgers isn’t. He’s had Driver, Jennings, Nelson, Cobb, Adams, and some really good defenses

I've been busy but 2 things.

1. GO BRADY! I've always loved TB, will always root for him.

2. I love Detroit's hires. I don't know much about Aaron Glenn, but I like Campbell, I like the new blood (and not Patriot way), I love the executive hires. John Dorsey is back, we have Holmes as GM, and another guy I can't of as Assistant GM. Very well-rounded group of guys.

I lived through the Tuck Rule 20 yrs ago as a Raiders fan and i still root for that guy.
I just totally respect the dedication and the greatness. Always seemed like a good teammate too.

Winning at 43 and beating the best QB in the league would be unreal. If he does that he should walk away.

There’s some speculation amongst the insiders that the NFL and NFLPA might try to work on finding a way of bumping up the cap for next season. Last I read it’s projected to be in the $180ish million range. That’s a number neither side wants. It’s not going to be as low as they once feared, but it’s still going to be a big drop from this season in its current form.

Contracts in the NFL are not fully guaranteed if the team can cut the player before the contract ends why shouldn't the player be able to cut the team when they believe they are worth more.

Rodgers has the leverage to do it so he should get his money. The front office is obviously not putting the best team around him to win.

I'm not sure what more he needs. They lost a very winnable game on Sunday, and Rodgers' decision-making was part of the reason they lost.

Rumor is that Rams passing game coordinator Shane Waldron will become the new Seahawks offensive coordinator.
