Synapse UHD > Every other release.

I love this movie. So far, of the UHD's I've picked up, I've noticed the improvements to be subtle, but not earth-shattering. I'm on the fence with this one as I have the Synapse steelbook which looks great to me, but... do I sell it on Ebay and buy the 4K? Decisions, decisions...

Well, the other versions don’t have an HDR grade, so keep that in mind as a difference.

Just keep in mind the UHD doesn't include the CD soundtrack if that's important to you.

Absolutely buy it. I also have the Synapse steelbook and the UHD is a considerable upgrade. One of my favorite UHD's.

I have a Goblin anthology for when I'm in the mood. I love the score but I generally just enjoy it with the film, so it was never something I really needed. When I bought the steelbook, it was the only game in town and I probably would have preferred the plain old 2-disc edition that came out a few months later. I'll let this one go and use the proceeds for the UHD, I think.

Had this in the unwatched pile for a year, I've seen Suspiria a few times before on dvd and Blu Ray, but hadn't seen the Synapse Blu Ray of the 4k scan so this UHD was the first time I had seen the movie in quite some time.

Wow. It's such a visual and auditory feast, well the film itself is such but this presentation was nothing short of revelatory, easily the best uhd I've ever seen.

Some will describe an amazing presentation of an older film as " looks as good as a new movie" , this looks better than a new movie

Ok so the presentation is incredible, the movie itself, well, I think it sets such an incredible sense of atmosphere and foreboding in the opening , with the cab ride in the storm, the cuts to the running water, the lighting , the opening murder, that it can't ever hope to live up to or sustain and the rest of the film is a let down in comparison.

That's my opinion of course, but it's such a gorgeous film that I'm watching it like looking at fine art and listening to great music so the plot takes a backseat.

I've just ordered this from Diabolikdvd even with shipping and conversion it was £40.25

Yeah it's Cult Films, so I think that Zavvi has a rogue employee. Plus they have Arrow's release of Flash Gordon for pre-order and it says it has 6 discs. Most likely will be taken down. Plus as Bikeroy says, it cheaper to import.

Watched the Blu-ray and loved it. I still haven't watched the UHD Blu-ray version with the Atmos soundtrack. Yea man, I have to check that out!

Grabbed this UHD (Synapse) off Amazon recently. No idea what this movie was about, other than a few friends telling me that I'd love it. Wow! Definitely something I'm more than glad to have in the shelf. The paisley on the walls...yum!

I'd be curious to know if Amazon is still sending these out with slipcovers. Otherwise I might go the eBay route just to be safe.

Seems like there hasn't been one report of someone receiving a copy without a slipcover. Think you're pretty much guaranteed one as they've been shrinkwrapping over the slipcover.

This movie is fantastic but I still think the 4K slipcover choice is hideous and such a poor representation of this amazing film. It's one of those what where they thinking moments imo. The original cover would have made a much better slipcase artwork, that way for the case cover people who don't like this new art would have had the choice to use the original reverse.

Speak for yourself. I absolutely adore that new poster art they used and think it represents the film really well, especially that particular scene. Plus you can flip the cover to have the original art too. I have the original art cover under the slip myself.

What I didn't like was the art they used for the blu-ray which I thought was too busy.

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the slipcover art is gorgeous and I don’t really think that can be argued.

In terms of the representation of the film itself, that’s probably the single most iconic shot from the movie.

...so it’s hardly out of left field.

Fans who have an obsessive devotion to original artwork are really limiting themselves imo.
