That's the problem with Broadway musicals. They fear making a movie will eat into stage earnings, so they wait forever before making one, at which point the original cast is long gone and often too old for the roles. Like we won't see a Book of Mormon or Hamilton movie for a long time. It's complete BS. Most people can't afford to see a Broadway show like that, much less travel to see one.

It was Pop-uuuu-lar.

I saw BOM on Broadway twice for $27 each

I have no interest in Hamilton from what I saw on the Tonys.

Saw this at the Apollo in London a few years ago, loved it. Can't wait to see what they do with Defying Gravity on the big screen.

Going up against Avatar 3. Bold. (Both will probably do fine).

I am far more interested in Wicked than an Avatar sequel.

I really hope Anna Kendrick is in this.

And in one of the comments from that link, someone suggested Emmy Rossum and Amanda Seyfried. Both excellent choices, but like Mike Scott I hope they find room for Kristen Bell.

While I would love Kendrick and/or Bell, I don't see it happening. Not sure who they will go with, but as long as it's good.

I am worried they will try to go too young for the movie version. Like Dove Cameron has a very Chenoweth-esque quality to her - she has played Chenoweth's daughter twice, in The Descendants and Hairspray - but I wouldn't want her to be Glinda.

If it has Dove Cameron, I won't be seeing it. I wouldn't mind Anna but let's be honest, she does not have a terribly strong singing voice (although it's a nice one). I couldn't imagine her pulling over either character singing Defying Gravity.

My real concern is that they get Lea Michelle to play Elfaba and Taylor Swift to play Glenda.

Why would Lea Michelle not make a good Elphaba?

And Anna Kendrick belted really well in Into the Woods, so I think she could play Elphaba too!
