I also think Quantum and Vincent have 2 different audiences. Vincent is for the true tech person like ourselves while Quantum does it for the layman (although he tells the layman pretty poor advice). Being the professional that he is, I hope Vincent doesn't leave YouTube. His videos are informative and honestly keeps us up to date in the Audio/Video world.
The one thing Quantum does real good is putting those paid marketers on Youtube on blast. I agree with Quantum, if you're sponsored (many of them are) you're compromised.

It's fine to not have the technical skill/knowledge - I don't, either - but then you shouldn't falsely claim to be a professional calibrator. I don't know how to perform heart surgery, so I don't claim to be a heart surgeon. I'm not a marine biologist, so I don't call myself a marine biologist. And so on.
Yeah he has no idea what hes talking about. I never give him any clicks.

Vincent is a paid commercial for LG. Can't trust him.

Not that I habitually watch anyone on YT but Quantum is one of the most clueless contributors on the entire platform, and that's saying something given how many "experts" are on there. I am not Vincent's biggest fan for his "fake HDR" clickbait - YT success tends to do that to people - but in the main he's still one of the most knowledgable such people on that platform, having co-authored a recent ITU paper on delta ITP for example. And his sense of humour is something I've always loved.

I'd still rather listen to a sponsored professional than an untethered goon. Quantum is comprised foremost by his utter lack of technical knowledge, a quality which is kinda important for a tech reviewer.

The one thing he does is preach to your bias of certain TVs and brand, which is why you agree with it.

Vincent is totally unbiased and is not paid by anyone. He does disclosed the UK retailers who sponsor and supply the TVs he reviews, but no manufacturer pays him anything.

In fact, if you watch his videos he has a record of being honest and critical of LG and all TV brands. If Vincent has any favorite brand it's constantly been Panasonic OLED TVs and I can confirm Panasonic's superior video processing and in the case of the professional Hollywood OLED displays that are only available in the US these client reference displays delivery the very best image quality I have ever seen.

With all due respect to the valued and excellent members who came out claiming Vincent was paid by LG to say what they want just simply has no basis of truth.

They all preach to certain biases. The difference between Quantum and the others is that he doesn't pretend. Vincent, Fomo, Villaman, and others are not objective they are paid marketers. They come under the guise of experts, but when you pull off their covers they're no better than Madison Ave marketing advertisers, they really can't be objective and that is the insidiousness of their channels. For example, FOMO starts most of his videos with, " Stop the FOMO", however, his real Modus Operandi is to cause FOMO (fear of missing it out) within the potential consumer. He wants you to purchase the newest TV with some incremental improvements from the previous TV.

I disagree, he is sponsored by Cramton and Moore, they sell LG OLED sets, so he can't be too objective when it comes to LG.

Secondly, he attacked a respected professional calibrator that's been in the game a long time, D-Nice. D-Nice has been around way before Vincent Teoh, you know him. I suspect that Vincent attacked D-Nice because Vincent is a big proponent of Calman software and D-Nice pretty much shot down Calman software.

I have no idea what Vincent's relationship with LG* is, my only niggles about his TV coverage is that he rarely reviews TVs out of the box, or compares them to his very well calibrated results.

And as he's based in Europe he isn't as critical of TCL's European output as their range deserve. It's fine praising their US models, but us lot have been getting the short end of the stick.

*There's also the argument that any reviewer has some bias when they're given anything from a manufacturer, whether it's just a TV or flights and accommodation to somewhere swanky for a press launch.

Right on Robert; you are very right.

Genuinely surprised anyone thinks Vincent is a shill.

Dude just loves what he does, and is genuinely passionate about it. He's to display technology what Digital Foundry are to gaming tech.

You shouldn't take his dedication to the science behind all of this brilliant tech for granted.

My only beef with him is when he calls SDR grades in an HDR container 'fake HDR'. It's not that he's incorrect in his assessment, I just hate that type of terminology. Mainly because there's still plenty of massively talented filmmakers and DOPs, that just aren't a fan of the medium.

Also, a friggin' MASSIVE LOL @ ANYONE that takes any single thing that Quantum Apothesis, or whatever his name is, at even the remotest of face value.

That dude is the epitome of what it means to be a pseud.

I remember a couple years ago, he was talking about how bad HDR gaming was as a medium in itself, in a video talking about Sony, only to not realize that Digital Foundry had already done a video about the SAME game, in regard to having its own requirement for HDR calibration.

That guy, to put it as politely as I can without using any offensive language, is an absolute moron. He needs to be thrown onto a fleet of barges and dropped off into the continental shelf.

So they launder LG's money before it reaches him. He's sponsored and compromised. The guy is still pushing flawed tech by a company that's manufacturing garbage to push planned obsolescence and sell TVs like they're disposable.

The reason for him being called a so called shill is Lg paid for him to come to there facility’s and gave him the vip treatment so he was paid by lg in a way and that makes him look bad when he praises a tv after they paid for his trip. So he has a point calling him Compromised.

That doesn't make him a paid shill. Was LG trying to butter up Vincent by giving him VIP treatment? Sure they were. But Vincent has been critical of LG tv's every year. He points out the flaws, talks about messed up FW, their flawed HDR10 tone mapping (DTM), etc.

He did call out D-Nice who apparently said there was no difference between Player-Led and TV-Led DV profiles. Whether he said that or not, I do not know. Vincent proved there is a difference it on one of his videos. I respect D-Nice, as he is right 99% of the time, but if he said that, he was wrong.
