Well, those last two won't be eligible for the sale price this time around.

Never done one of these through Criterion before, but 400 Blows is OOS everywhere I can see that'll ship here and isn't inordinately expensive, so I might as well indulge.
The sale always starts 12PM Eastern.

In my experience, a Criterion cart can be cleared out at any time - unlike say Amazon, where items can sit forever unless they go OOS and are moved to "Saved Items." If you add titles now there's no guarantee they'll still be there when the sale begins - irrespective of price changes.

I'd recommend adding to "wishlist" on product pages as Criterion seems to empty carts as the sale begins. When you're in the "wishlist" section of "my Criterion" you can click "add to cart".

Add stuff to your wish list, then move it over when the sale starts. They clear out carts.

I may have missed this earlier, but do you have a friend shipping you the items or a freight forwarder? Criterion only ships to US and Canada

It does explain my confusion above when you asked if the sale started Today since I didn't check your location

Here is my wishlist for the sale, mostly newer releases. Guess I’ll be spending the morning whittling it down a bit before the sale starts, instead of working.

Che
Crumb - I think it is still OOS
L’argent
Fish tank
Crash
Mouchette
Symbiopsychotaxiplasm
Amores perros
Minding the gap
Rolling thunder revue
The ascent
The parallax view
Man push cart
Chop shop
Smooth talk
3 films by Roberto Rossellini
Lone wolf and cub
Three films by Luis Bunuel

Yeah, I have to use reshippers all the time. Almost nowhere ships here anymore.

That stinks. I'm pretty sure that is the standard way to mail replacements out though. Got the same packaging for a VinSyn disc recently.

Is that the set with the films that star Ingrid Bergman?

I haven't taken part in a Criterion flash sale in years. However, last week I got a $10 gift certificate for being a Criterion Channel subscriber so with titles being 50% off and that coupon knocking $10 off shipping, I think I'm gonna grab a bunch of titles. So far on my wish list I have:

The Asphalt Jungle
Band of Outsiders
Forty Guns
In a Lonely Place
Klute
Le samourai
Night and the City
The Philadelphia Story
Pierrot le fou

And if the disc (esp a BD) in that sort of packaging is scratched up, the scratches were on the discs prior to be packed

Anyone ever bought the Zatoichi set and been disappointed?

Like a few of the films were great and the rest were mostly...meh.

Or you watched it once and it took you three months to finish and you’ve never watched it again...and that was five years ago.

...like that?

It's one of my favorite criterion releases.

On another note I just scored an ak100 boxset from someone on the forum. Yes I know its dvd only but I doubt I would ever see it again
Also if they ever release a similar set in blu ray I doubt it would look or as be as high quality.

Videodrome - essential Cronenberg; cool, unique & surreal, but The Fly is not a good litmus test
Dazed and Confused - comedy is usually too subjective to recommend; let the trailer be your guide
Blow Out - super safe De Palma pick
Rosemary's Baby - horror classic; pretty hard to warn against
Mulholland Dr. - essential Lynch; brilliant & amazing, but again, far more surreal than TEP
Come and See - extremely violent & brutal; powerful if it doesn't turn you away
Nice breakdown, thanks. Tough one, but I think I may be leaning Mulholland Dr. Only thing is, I'm reading that there may be some issues with Criterion's compression of that one. Saw some caps-a-holic comparisons that would seem to confirm this. Damn. Wish I could get them all, frankly, but a man's gotta have a budget.

For those who have ordered direct before - does Criterion have branded or anonymous packaging? I've got an internal mail system option of getting the goods to me over in foreign but not supposed to use it for personal stuffs.
