Yep, sb5 got it:

I hadn't really thought of it in terms of folk horror, but it does appear in the forthcoming documentary Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror. I expect that a lot of people will come away from that film with significantly expanded to-watch lists. |

Who owns Coscarelli's first two flicks, Jim the World's Greatest and Kenny & Company?
I don't like any of his other films, but these two are interesting, especially Kenny. |

Universal AFAIK only has theatrical and possibly TV/Streaming rights to Jim: The Worlds Greatest, while video rights are probably claimed by Don Coscarelli himself. That one shouldn't be a problem with ether Coscarelli (being VS has worked with him for Beastmaster) or Universal if FC decide to tap into their catalogs.
Fox might currently only have theatrical and TV rights to Kenny and Co, as their video rights were reported to have expired a while ago. It wasn't their production and they dont own worldwide rights ether (that JPN Blu comes from a JP rights holder but used a HD master from Fox) |

What about Track 29? One of Roeg's best imo
I don't know who the rights holder is but Indicator released it overseas. |

It was an HBO co-production with Silver Screen Partners...not sure if this means WB has it for home video or if Sony has some stake in it. This film looks like it falls into the same category as THE HITCHER, for instance.

It may be that whatever agreements there were that allowed a dvd have lapsed in the 15-20 subsequent years. I suspect with these specific co-productions there were some complex carve-outs in the agreements that need to be re-negotiated and the financial stakes may be relatively minimal for these companies to re-engage their legal departments. Just guesswork here, but these things are never as simple as “they released it on VHS / DVD, why can’t they release it now,” unfortunately.

Haven't had a chance to watch it (when your backlog is 1800+, it could take awhile) and never had the DVD, so I probably wouldn't be much help anyway. Basically knew that Japan is the only country that's released it so far and decided to tack it onto an order with Wreck It Ralph 2 3D and Salute of the Jugger.
