I just bought a USB drive that advertised that you could transfer a full-length movie in 30 seconds. By their definition a full-length movie is 1.2 GB. It's absurd that anyone thinks that 1.2 GB is an acceptable size for a full-length movie.

Since most of the iTunes HD downloads are 4 GB in size, must be referring to SD full length examples.

Another example of why subscription streaming and absolute studio control over their content sucks:
Inappropriate SpongeBob episodes get pulled by streaming services: "Two "SpongeBob SquarePants" episodes are no longer available on Paramount+ and Amazon because of inappropriate content." "One episode, "Kwarantined Crab," from the show's 12th season, centers on a virus storyline. "In the episode, a health inspector comes to the Krusty Krab and finds a case of the "Clam Flu" in the restaurant. Upon this discovery, the health inspector quarantines the patrons, and the characters grow anxious. Those who are assumed to have the virus are shunned and tossed in a freezer." "Another episode called "Mid-Life Crustacean" has been out of rotation since 2018. In it, SpongeBob, Patrick and Mr. Krabs break into a woman's house and steal her underwear." https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/30/media...des/index.html If there's any chance that any little thing might offend anyone, it must be removed. Disclaimers were never going to be enough. What is appropriate to see is less and less our decision and is increasingly being decided for us. When I watch a series on any SVOD I have to wonder if am I getting to see all of the episodes, and in their original form, or am I being "protected" by these sanctimonious studio/SVOD nannies? It is better than I expected it to be, too. But it is often sappy, soapy, and silly. I liked it despite all of that, but I am not inclined to buy this series on disc as the show currently stands after three seasons.

HD quality is average at best simply due to lower bit rates. t's better than most of the other streaming platforms for sure but still not up to mark. Most HD streams are AVC encoded with bit rates between these 2 bands 6-11 Mbps or 10-15 Mbps. The odd ones peak at 16.5 Mbps. Remember we did have bit starved encodes on BD from Warner and other Studios during the HD DVD VC-1 era where they were encoding at bit rates of 11-13 Mbps using VC-1. Where iTunes shine is 4K and to get it in full quality you must own a Apple TV box. Apple throttles bit rates when streamed via non-ATV devices including TV apps. |

Minus Atmos and its bit rates are only few notches above streaming bit rates (25 Mbps on MA V 36 Mbps on disc)

Hey,
I'm so glad my friends HBO Max password still works as I can't wait to watch Godzilla Vs King Kong today. I noticed his account is about $400 over due and in his "notices" section they are waiting for him to return equipment and it says service is cancelled. (The DirectTV account not the HBO account.) I hope it works for today anyway. I only see him in the summer and fall and I do hope he is ok as he's not healthy. If he is OK I would rather give him the $15 I was prepared to spend just to watch this movie on release day. My local theaters are closed. I have never seen clone wars and I really like Star Wars better as a movie than a TV show. I can't manage to sit through enough of Mandolorian to get to the good stuff which I think is like at the end of Season 2. Revenant is stunning in UHD BD. I would never watch the gimped version of anything If I had the choice. For now, I have that choice. UHD BD is the best thing about my favorite hobby and so long as they make um, I'll be buying um. Blu Ray is good enough and UHD BD is a bit better. -Brian |

On a more serious note, I am torn about getting Disney+ as I really want to see some of the tv series. As it’s exclusive, I feel I have no choice. This is a huge decision as I’m betraying my principles if I go ahead. I have a lot of thinking to do. |

According to blu-ray.com, the average bitrate for The Revenant is 36.91 Mbps and that is an increase of 47.64% over Movie Anywhere's average of 25 Mbps. Again, why would I want to watch a version with a substantially reduced bitrate? My 4K disc includes the digital copy, so I actually get both, anyways. The digital copy probably looks nice and if I ever want to watch this movie when I am away from home it will suffice, but there is absolutely no reason to settle for so much less when I am at home. |

You would not hesitate to try a new show on cable TV, so there is no reason not to try one on Disney+. Not all shows on TV get a physical release, but that wouldn't stop you from watching them with your TV service and the same thinking should apply with using an SVOD. I take my ATV4K with me if I travel and my kids prefer to watch on their own devices plus one is living away from home now. Both is certainly the way to go. When I'm home I want the full experience. |

Wasn't there supposed to be some news in late March about when a new version of the ATV4K would be released? If there was, I slept through it.
