As much as I'd love to stay up and watch but as great as the movie will be no doubt I'd fall asleep sometime during the movie and be wreck in the morning. Tomorrow night with my wife at 8 pm on my 65" Z9D. None of my 4k players have the HBO Max app so the projector is out. Sometime soon I'll catch it at the theater with a buddy of mine.

Just finished it.
B+

Not as good as KOTM or SI. Better than G’14.

The biggest problem is scenes have no weight or stakes. Everything is edited so tightly, nothing has time to breathe.

Damn. This movie was a lot of fun. Best of the monsterverse in my opinion. Loved it.

Even the human stuff wasn't as boring as KOM. Also the fights stuck to the monsters like it should. Definitely gonna watch it again this week.

Solid 9/10 for me.

This was fun. It feels like an abridged cut though.

I watched GKOM for the first time last night just so I’d be caught up for this and I was bored to tears. Finishing it was a real slog. They should have skipped right to vs after a single Godzilla movie and a single Kong movie.

vs is a dumber movie than the first Godzilla and KSI but that’s to be expected. The human characters are better than GKOM and thankfully the movie has the smallest focus on human characters in the entire Monsterverse which is also to be expected.

It’s interesting that they credit Toho but the creators of Kong aren’t acknowledged in any way since Kong is a public domain character. It made me wonder how the disparity in interested parties might have affected the way the story unfolds. Kong is obviously the central character, he has 5 times the screentime Godzilla has, and he has to go through the prototypical hero’s journey with all the obligatory ups and downs, which means he definitely loses if you’re keeping score in his matchups with Godzilla. I certainly got the feeling that Toho probably threw their weight around so the film would favor Godzilla and that there was nobody in Kong’s corner pushing back:

I work the night shift so I'm up already. Luckily I was off tonight so I was able to watch it. I loved it and will probably end up watching it a few times before it leaves HBO Max. Bring on the extended cut 4K blu-ray release

I highly enjoyed it, but Skull Island is still my fave because of Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and Toby Kebbell.

There really wasn't anything to be spoiled since the trailers revealed every scene practically.

As I was watching this on my Macbook Pro, every scene had me going "this would look way better on a giant movie theatre screen" and I blame HBO Max for allowing us to watch this early on smaller screens so they don't get my $10 ticket money.

Well if HBO Max was smart enough to give it to theatres first I would've been there right at 4pm

But I had to see it the minute it went live at 2am and I was comfy in my bed so????

Probably, but all the money is on the screen. I suspect if anything was cut, it was human stuff. This feels efficient and I'm not sure I'd want a longer cut.

Skull Island is way better and more fun than this dimly lit and dry film. Nothing even touches Skull Island. It's just fascinating and fun and charming. This isn't.

It can't be too dry, there were some underwater scenes in the trailer.

Fun movie. I’d give it a solid 8/10.
PQ(DV) looked great but I’m sure Atmos on disc would be a killer.

You "had" to see it the minute it went live instead of waiting 14 hours so you watch it on a laptop.
