HaHa, Des Moines. I spent 5 winters there at university. Lots of memories.

OTOH, this dude missed a perfect opportunity to mention Matt Damon during that reminiscing about that Michael Douglas movie. Jimmy’s nemesis.

No 4K movies displayed during the segment, guessing they don’t know about UHD’s and HDR yet.

...

Still, thanks to everyone, members and visitors for looking in on some of the best discussion on HDR and other tech (and sometimes not so tech) matters. Cheers!
As March ends, we meet to tally up what has transpired. Nothing ominous, I assure you! After 9 pm here on the West coast of USA.

With close to 15K posts here, the number of Views is 8,797,955. Minus last month's ending viewership of 8,518,076 = 279,879 for March. Very robust traffic, just over 9,000 a day. Thanks everyone for participating or stopping by for a look/ see.

Just to compare popularity, it's worth mentioning that the 4K Movies Releases thread in the 4K movies section has just under 10K posts and almost 13M views, so wow, even though new movies slowed to a crawl in the last 12 months, that thread has a big lead in viewers. It will be getting a lot of activity now that movie theaters are reopening. Kudos to that.

absolutely, for those unaware of the good natured long-term rivalry –

this type thing ^ could work for D-Nice v. Vincent T. with each profiting from it, as well as their followers…if....D-Nice were to chill and refrain from the implied physicality

And with regards to colorists, starting in a couple minutes (without going on a deep dive into color management – http://learn.foundry.com/error/not-f...kflows-in-nuke )

No matter the field, true ‘experts’ learn new things every day, their strength is being teachable and not letting ego or personal bias get in the way. Sometimes I have to say to others in office, "I don't know, but I will try to find out". There’s honesty in admitting when you need to do some more self-education and not being dismissive.

With regards to the color management link above, I notice after having posted it, it’s blocked. If anyone is interested, PM me for a better link which should work getting thru.

Reminder for upcoming interview (interview in B/W, b.t.w.) tomorrow regarding the Dolby Vision HDR for Mank - https://register.gotowebinar.com/reg...53585210754062

Me too; Steve McQueen is charismatic. It was Chuck Norris who trained him in the martial arts...thanks Chuck. And Steve is a good rider (motorcycle), like Keanu Reeves (Canadian).

...The Blob, Bullitt, The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven, ...

Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee also trained together. ...James Coburn and Roman Polanski were under Bruce Lee's tutelage for a short while.

"Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris (born March 10, 1940) is an American martial artist, actor, film producer, and screenwriter. After serving in the United States Air Force, Norris won many martial arts championships and later founded his own discipline Chun Kuk Do. Norris is a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo. Shortly after, in Hollywood, Norris trained celebrities in martial arts. Norris went on to appear in a minor role in the spy film The Wrecking Crew (1969). Friend and fellow actor Bruce Lee invited him to play one of the main villains in Way of the Dragon (1972). While Norris continued acting, friend and student Steve McQueen suggested to him that he take it seriously. Norris took the starring role in the action film Breaker! Breaker! (1977), which turned a profit. His second lead Good Guys Wear Black (1978) became a hit, and Norris became a popular action film star."

I omitted that movie title deliberately, to see if someone would mention it.
And you just did.

came up years ago in association with the origin of Digital Intermediates in contrasting a non-vfx motion picture (The Sand Pebbles) to a vfx one - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...es#post9213621

with the “image quality deterioration or loss of high fidelity pictues” ^ comment in the context of those vfx motion pictures of a certain era - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...2k#post2299058
