Have you managed to try out the any of the Media apps or is there any reviews of the media apps yet?
It's Apple TV, not Apple+!

I use Netflix & Youtube. I’d like to have Disney +

If you can confirm wether or not it supports 4K, I may bite. I thought it did though. Wasn’t Star Wars in 4K?
The Disney App on my PS4 only shows "HD" for resolution on everything I choose.

If I go on my One S then then things like Star Wars are available in UHD, HDR, Atmos Dolby Vision etc.

Ok thanks.

I would be surprised if the PS5 doesn’t stream Disney $ in 4K.

Can confirm it has Vudu. It's not one of the ones it suggests you install during the setup, but if you browse the media library it's there and I was able to download it.

If I believe random posts on Twitter it seems the AppleTV+ app doesn't support Dolby vision or Atmos.

Maybe that implies that it is indeed 4K and HDR10 then?

I'm guessing the PS5 app will be the same as the PS4 for Apple TV+ So it looks like it has 4K HDR10 no DV.

It doesn't advertise Atmos under the film title but it is listed under primary languages, so I guess it will play if you are bitstreaming to an AVR.

How much does Disney charge you for their sub if you subbed?

I’m assuming you’re in the US.

I think it was added on the 10th same day as the Xbox Series launch since the Xbox One got the App on that day too. Just been watching The Long Way Up on there on PS4.

The PS5 has a Sony app you can download to stream movies and TV shows that you bought on the PS4 or PS3 (or on their website, back when they supported their movie store on the website). But you can't browse their library of movies or buy/rent anything on the PS5. But they are still adding new releases to their library (including everything that just released on Tuesday and last Friday) and featuring them prominently in the PS4 store.

I don't get the angle here. If they want to get out of the streaming biz why not do this on the PS4 too, you can watch things you already have but that's it? Why let you keep buying or renting stuff and keep expanding their own library? And if they don't want to get out of it, why cut off PS5 users? They're obviously not going to bring it to the PS5 later. They've got their solution already, here's an app where you can watch the stuff you own.

The Disney+ app on PS5 doesn't support 4K HDR. I'm guessing it's because it is actually the the PS4 version of the app which also doesn't support it.

If you download the app on PS5 and check it it says PS4.

Now what really winds me up about this is that Disney themselves swear blind that the app supports 4K HDR on PSr and PS5.

In fact people have had live chats with them and they have told people it's because their internet is too slow... You only need 25Mbps down, I'm on 200Mbps.

The app just straight up does not support 4K HDR on PlayStation.

If you are going to get it get it on your Xbox because at least it will be 4K HDR on there.

I wish Youtube would work in the background, while playing games. both as Pip and completely in the background. I think it's something that can be done with an update.

I enjoy using Spotify in the background while playing casually, but I'd prefer to listen to discussions/reviews, etc.. over music

So many updates for the Disney app and still no 4K support on PS. It’s amazing that I have to use my Xbox One S to watch Disney + in 4K when I have one of the worlds most powerful consoles sat right next to my telly that even has the gall to advertise itself as being “8K” on the box and it can’t even support 4K on a streaming app.

I uninstalled Disney + after checking it out on PS5.

It’s not even a Native PS5 app like YouTube or Netflix. So if they make a Native app version, only then can I see them supporting 4K HDR. (No Dolby Vision)

I use Apple TV 4K which supports everything. So even if PS5 got a Native app, I’d probably switch to Apple just for the Dolby.

I’m just being lazy mostly. Plus trying to justify buying the media remote which has that dedicated Disney button lol

I’ve been holding off buying an Apple TV 4K because it’s about time they released an updated version. The last one was released 4 or 5 years ago wasn’t it? I was certain they’d release a new model by the summer.

Did you got for the bigger storage space on it? What exactly do you you use the storage for other than keeping the OS and Apps saved on it? In which case is it even worth spending more for the bigger storage?
