#2 This is the only section with media as an option. #3 have Power DVD Ultra hooked up to the Sammy too and it's the same as the Sammy Blu-ray image wise. I'll just check out the reviews on the main page and go from their, since obviously no-one here has a clue (makes me wonder if they get paid to kill any type of negative rederick in here). In the reviews they give pro-and-cons to the BD version, thought it would be nice to compile those thoughts in a thread here. Have fun watching your Hi-Def 1970's-80's & 90's movies in BD, I'll pass. You don't need to say how much you paid for the Monster cable. Everyone here knows how overpriced they are and don't give you any advantage over a cheap cable whatsover. And the Blu-rays of movies made in the 70s/80s/90s are giving us what we saw in the cinema. Or the original negative the director was editing. And there is no movies designed for Blu-ray playback. All movies are made for the cinema not a next gen optical disc.

There is a lot of missunderstanding with BD. Yes some transfert's have not been the best ever. Many of the early releases were rush on the format with the studios not taking the time to make a proper release. Hollywood producers are business men, always ready for the quick money grab.
I would say it's up to the buyer to read a bit, check a few reviews and see if the purchase is worth making on BD. But I know blind buy is also very popular option for a lot of people, which I never quite understood. Even if a movie was made 50 years ago, it will look great on BD with proper care. Check Casablanca or Patton or Sleeping Beauty. BD help's uncompress what we use to have on VHS and DVD. In short any BD, even the worst possible transferts are superior then any DVD. After that it's up to each person to decide if it's worth adding it to his collection. |

I had Star Wars on Beta, got it on VHS. Later on when the new VHS format included the chance to see Star Wars in OAR, I bought it again. There is nothing I hated more on the old VHS to watch movies knowing I was missing half the picture. Then DVD came along and I purchase all the Star Wars movies again. When they become available in BD, I will be the first in line ![]() I love watching movies, it's one of my favorite escape. As you can see by my collection I will usually buy only movies I know I will watch multiple times. I got many DVD's that were a one time viewing purchase, I've decided to stop this with BD. I do not blind buy. I know for example The Wrestler was one of the best movie of 2008. I will not purchase it. I will view it on TMNHD when it become's available (like I said I love movies so I am curious and will watch many movies that fall outside of what you see in my collection) but I know it will not be something I will want to watch again, unlike others on this site. So far I've yet to see a DVD that truly out-class a BD, it's not possible. Some BD are a little disapointing, yes I could agree with this. I got the early transfert of Terminator 2 and the PQ is so so a little compare with other BD. Is it better then the DVD I got before? Of course it is. The main difference for BD is that it provide a quality that many in the general public will understand for some years to come. Many people feel watching a movie a DVD is quite enough and nothing else is needed. Is it a niche format? I don't think it is. Over the next few years as more and more people convert to HD it will grow. |
