did anyone else notice the very uncomfortable laugh of the stoner at the one part like he had no idea what maher said, and was on the verge of actually trippin off the bud, and seeing things

also i thought the part where the muslim guy told maher they allowed woman and that they have a CORNER was pretty humorous as well

You mean professed conservative right? Rush makes a living doing this......

Um, that's called gravity.

People who don't understand evolution (biological or cosmological) have no concept of the scale of time over which it occurs.

Define 1 PL (person lifetime) = 100 years

Christ born 20 PL ago
Human history is 50 PL
Human civilisation is 120 PL
Modern humans first appeared about 500 PL ago

The dinosaurs disappeared 650,000 PL ago
Multi-cellular life appeared 7,000,000 PL ago
Life on earth began 37,000,000 PL ago
Earth formed 46,000,000 PL ago
The Sun formed 100,000,000 PL ago
The Universe is 140,000,000 PL old

I expect you're not prepared to open your mind to the possibility it is true.

I disagree with the bold. The interviewees did a good job of it all by themselves. They live their entires lives based on a belief that they dont even understand and couldnt even come close to articulating an explanation or even answer simple questions. The folks he interviewed were far less educated on the subject than Maher.

Some religious folks have researched their faith and beliefs to a great degree. They became "students" of their particular religion and after a great deal of study, arrive at the decision to believe. The folks Maher interviewed were simple followers, except for the obvious couple of Snake oil salesmen criminal preachers. Those guys are scary.

One of the things that actually shocked me was: How irrational the head of the human genome project was. First he states that the bible was "written by people who personally eye witnessed Christ", then when that was shot down he changes up to "practically eye witnessed via interviewing eyewitnesses", then to "would you really expect anyone that eye witnessed him to make a written account of him?" and "wouldn't you expect there to be all kinds of contradictions in a true story of this magnitude?" I wonder if this guy would maybe intentionally hinder the project he leads for fear that it would contradict his irrational belief system. His behavior in the film would suggest that this is possible of him.

Nice numbers. I agree that people, in general, have a hard time really understanding vast amounts of time, or large numbers. It's not a slight against anyone in particular... it's just something humans in general have problems with.

With the recession and bailouts going on, lots of huge numbers get thrown around, but a lot of people tend to not really understand how big these numbers are. A million is a lot, sure. A billion is more, sure... but how much more relative to a million? A trillion... that seems like a lot, but how much bigger than a billion is it?

A person can remember what they were doing 1 million seconds ago, because that was just under 12 days ago.

A person can't remember what they were doing 1 billion seconds ago, because it was 32 years ago (so some people weren't even alive).

Nobody in the world knows what was going on 1 trillion seconds ago, because that was 32,000 years ago.

Well, I'm not sure if this applies, but according to Steve Miller, you've got to go through hell before you get to heaven.

As to evidence, you have actually presented none in support of your hypothesis.

That is a wonderfull way for all mankind to think. And I try to live my life that way. However, I dont need a book, a man selling the book, the guilt and fear of hell, a reincarnated son of a virgin, a PROFITABLE industry to teach me common decency.

So in order to acknowledge the swine flu, one must also acknowledge evolution. On that note, anyone that gets swine flu and does not believe in evolution should have to pray it away

Not at all. I am merely open minded. I dont believe in the devil, hell, heaven, noahs ark, and the parting of the Red Sea. My definition of "god" could mean many things, it doesnt have to be a judeo-christian god. Fate or chance could be god for all we know.

That is an untrue statement. It is many people's argument that evolution is nonexistent.
