I'll take a look at the new driver update too, I read that the previous driver as causing game crashes in Apex Legends so I wonder if they fixed that with this release. |

Started up GeForce Experience again and got another BSOD. This time though it loaded up correctly after restarting and installed the latest driver update and haven't had any issues since.

Depends on what your looking to spend, but imo the most important piece other then the processor is it having a nicer stand alone graphics card.

An older game like AOE even the relaunched version should be no problem for that laptop on max settings imo. Probably wouldn't have much trouble running anything on high settings, ultra and max are more reserved for very high dollar rigs and truthfully over 60fps is barley even noticeable. Only thing the gtx1650 is missing is ray tracing, but i wouldn't call that a deal breaker. |

No it is just newer fancy tech for game programmers to utilize for lighting effects in games, games will still work without it, they just wont look as pretty. Not all games use it either, mainly newer triple A game titles so i wouldn't worry to much about it.
To me it looks like you got a nicely equipped laptop. Maybe eventually bump the memory up in it but other then that you should be good for a few years with it imo. |

It will be 6-10 years before RT becomes a normalized thing in the game industry. Implementing it across the board on all GPUs is simply too expensive and difficult with today's hardware and software limitations. Once we have systems with GPUs using the next-gen semi-conductor processes that increase efficiency and large amounts of HBM and full PCIe NVME storage, backed by high-density high-speed DDR5/DDR6, the raw bandwidth will be there for 4K gaming with RT and HDR, on stunning microLED gaming monitors and UHDTVs.

Now that console throughput has surpassed consumer PCs and RT is becoming a staple of console games there will be many more opportunities for developers to support RT across the board, especially now that DirextX 12 Ultimate has been released. |

If it helps I haven't had any issues with my MSI. My only regret was getting the 2070 Max Q. In hindsight I would be gone with the 2060. If you find yourself wondering what to get just forget the 2070MQ and that will make your decision easier, your choice is 2060 or 2080Max Q. Then your decision will be based on your budget. If you can swing for the 2080 then be happy with the 2060.
I wouldn't bother with 4K screens, HD is fine for small screen gaming and chances are you won't have the oomph to push 4K at a reasonable FPS anyway, plus it kills the battery life. Just look for a nice smooth 144Hz+ 1080p panel. Gaming laptops are a minefield, it took me long time to settle on what to get and no sooner do you buy it there's a better model on the way so just keep that in mind so you don't get any buyers remorse. |

Personally I would get the bigger screen and smaller drive. You could always get an external for games you’ve already finished but don’t want to delete.
