Going to take a wild guess and say it’s a LOTR situation. Not enough copies being produced to meet demand. I remember reading that North America was down to like one manufacturing plant that was more or less making every blu in America. 4K I think has not been prioritized due to less popularity.

I just got an email saying the Indy 4K set was back ordered until June 22nd. I just ordered the Best Buy Steeelbook 4K set, as it just came back into stock for in store pick up.

If Target sends you a new delivery date email that you have to approve to stop them from canceling your order, then a week or so later they send you another new delivery date email that you have to approve, you're never going to get your order. It's an endless loop where they'll just keep sending you the email. Even if the item comes back in stock, your order will be stuck in that loop.

I actually had that scenario with a Funko 2 pack and it did ship after about 3 date delays.

That's usually only if the release date changes. I've never had it happen if the item wasn't in stock but was released.

I've had it happen four times, three were preorders. The release date never changed. Once was a video game preorder, another was a movie box set that went out of stock during a sale. Both items came back in stock and Target wouldn't fill the order or let me change to in-store pickup. Just kept on getting the delayed emails.

Most recently, it's for the Last Action Hero and Backdraft 4K steelbooks.

I've had that happen to one item, but that item never came back into stock. I had it happen to a couple other items, but they did eventually get those and shipped them.

But yes, the one that wasn't going to ship was in an endless loop like that, as if they WERE going to get it back in stock (which to this day they never have).

They have shipped stuff to me after 8 weeks of approving the new delivery date. But they have also canceled orders on me the day after approving the new delivery date, only to later have the item come back in-stock (at full price). Their system is most annoying...

If you have to agree to the new date a second time I highly recommend contacting customer service. The two times it happened to me I've gotten a shipment notification within a week of sending a "whats going on" email.
