Indy 4 gets a lot of undeserved hate IMHO. It's my favorite Indy film of the 4, and Temple is my least favorite.

The only thing I am truly curious about is if Indy 5 will be my new favorite or not. Exciting times to be getting another Indiana Jones movie.

Agreed! As a longtime fan of the series I'm super excited. I'm also a big fan of James Mangold's work!

Crystal Skull is entertaining to watch. But the family dynamic that Lucas and Spielberg establishes between Indy, Marion and Mutt, just isn't quite as compelling as the family dynamic between Indy and Henry Jones Senior in Last Crusade. I miss a scene such as the talk that Indy has with his dad on the zeppeliner, which plays as a quite poignant moment for both characters.
Crystal Skull starts well but the story isn't very interesting in my opinion. I usually start to get bored after Indy and Mutt travel to Peru.

I think Temple of Doom is just as good as Raiders and Last Crusade. I have never found Short Round and Willie annoying like many do. They are good and funny characters.

Guys, I’m having an internal meltdown when hearing someone likes Indy 4 the best, but I will refrain from escalating things. See how that’s done?

You’re publicly posting about it on a forum, so it doesn’t sound that internal.

Also, there a lot of us that like Indy 4 (regardless of the repeated feces-flinging some here like to do). We wonder how you expect any kind of respect on an Indy board, when you say that it's not one of the films "you like" even though you haven't seen it (and don't intend to), then say things like this:

You've already bowed your back to loudly-broadcast criticism of Indy 4, so consider yourself an internet-tabloid subordinate.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree

Well, that's ironclad for a franchise that's onto its fifth movie.

Let us not forget that Raiders had an old man living beyond his mortal years. Anything is possible in Indiana Jones, even Aliens and a supernatural golden box. Although Anthony may not be in it at all, and if he is, he might be playing another character. I merely found that "fan casting" interesting.

It’s a quote from Raiders, nice sarcasm though.

"[Darth Vader] betrayed and murdered your father," is a quote from Star Wars, too.

At the time of KOTCS' production,John Hurt was widely believed to be playing Abner. Now it's Anthony Hopkins' turn.

Bound to be right eventually.

According to canon, Abner Ravenwood is believed to have died in an avalanche in 1936 in Nepal, only months prior to Indy turning up in Marion's bar.

It would be weird, if it turns he survived and yet haven't made any contact with his own daughter or grandson for decades. But if that rumor is true and Hopkins was spotted with the Indy 5 cast, I guess anything is possible.

Abner was a bit of a father figure to Indy, I believe, and was already getting on in years when he died.
