I get why there are issues occasionally with stuff on the PS5 since Sony chose to have each version of a game be treated as if they were completely separate games. It's a pain, but the one plus is the new gen version on disc is a UHD, while every Xbox game is still on Blu-ray discs. If you are still at least mostly a physical copy only person, that's a fairly big deal as you can install a whole game most of the time (minus patches of course), while you have to download a decent portion of most games on Xbox.

Like you said, them still not making it really simple to install the correct version of a game is just plain dumb. The game saves issue is annoying, but I at least get it to an extent because of what I said in the above paragraph. The really dumb part is why some PS4 games don't allow you to transfer over the game save when there isn't a PS5 version available. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is the newest one I can think of that doesn't allow you to pick up where you left off if you start it on PS4 and then get a PS5. Unlike what it shows on Xbox, there is no new gen version of the game on PlayStation (and it's not really one on Xbox either despite the case and the system saying otherwise).

So, I guess to end this longer than expected post, I actually do think the Series X is the better overall system of the two. That is from design and UI perspective. Obviously Sony still wins out in the games department for now (things could get real interesting in a year or two), and that's what drove me back to getting another PS5 yesterday even though I've highly enjoyed my time with my Series X. I was sick of watching people play Ratchet & Clank and Final Fantasy 7 Remake on their PS5s and me not being able to since I sold mine.
Try installing a physical Xbox One game from Disc & try playing that on Xbox Series X without internet.

Fair enough. Neither system is perfect. It still seems like the PS5 has more issues than the Series X, with some of them being more important of course.

While we shouldn't have to live with some of the issues that are still there on the PS5, you can to play the great games.

I find it amusing that people are just now learning of this.

I had the first Forza game released on Xbox One on Xbox One from Disc. My internet went out for a day or 2. Decided to play some Forza. Nope!

The DLCs for this are not on the disc by the way, something to do with how the thing upgrades and Sony's rules about disc versions matching digital. There's enough space on the disc.

Metro Enhanced along with its DLC is only available digital.

Maybe they’ll re-release the game for PS5 physical but I have doubts about that.

There's a physical version of the PS5 version of Metro Exodus. Only the main game is on the disc, DLC is a download code.

Okay, code inside. Gotcha.

Finished the Main Game.

Finished this on Xbox One X back when it released. The game world is beautifully crafted. The character models & animations are okay. The combat mechanics are what exactly what I Remembered. Absolute garbage. No change here on PS5. If only they could get a COD developer for combat. Hit detection is terrible. You’d think your playing an online game with bad lag.

I’d give it a 6/10 gameplay, 9/10 visuals on PS5.

The DLC is a bit confusing. It’s under Chapters, not DLC section in main menu.

I remember the hit detection putting me off the original. Great atmosphere....but the gunplay was woeful

I mean if you’re gonna talk up your game being enhanced with Ray Tracing & all, you might want to think about how it actually plays first.

If you get the XSX version it’s on disc. I wish I had gotten that version now.

Finished The Two Colonels.

Took some time to figure out the flamethrower. Have to hold Square button to charge it up before you can fire it. Had a few bugs in that DLC. Overall a straight forward linear gameplay path.

Started an hour into Sam’s Story.

This one is definitely has more content because they added a brand new map which you can fully explore. Explains the 8GB file size compared to the just 1GB size of the previous DLC.

As usual in both DLCs, Gameplay takes a back seat.

Wonder if you can play the game without internet connection though?

Kinda pointless to get XSX version on Disc if all 3rd party games require you to be signed into Xbox Servers.

Didn’t know that, now I wanna test it with all the XB games I have. I’m playing The XSX later so I’ll try it with some games.

Edit: I tested it with a couple of games & you are correct they wouldn’t work offline. While it sucks im glad I have other systems I can play if my internet ever goes out. It’s gonna suck though if you want to play certain games on XSX many years from now when the servers are gone for good.

How are the load times on the PS5 version in the open world sections? They were 3-4 minutes (from the menu) on the PS4 Pro.

Series X Metro Physical doesn't launch without the internet or doesn't install without the internet?

Typically 30-40 seconds. It isn’t using the custom PS5 SSD Controller.

From what I’ve seen you can install most of any game. But in order to finish it, you have to be connected.

I don’t know about Metro since I own it on PS5 but the other games I tried wouldn’t launch without the internet. I tried RE2, RE Village & Biomutant. All were fully installed but since I was offline they wouldn’t start at all.

Edit: not sure what’s changed since I made this post but the games I tried before on the XSX that wouldn’t play offline now play offline just fine

Looks like the PS5 version which includes the DLCs is $30 right now and I assume this is the best way to go for this game? I know the PS4 version can be had for about $20 right now and you can get the free PS5 update, but I dont think this includes the DLCs(?).
