I haven't used my record player in ages, and I don't really have a CD player any more (my laptop doesn't have a disc drive), but on the occasions that I actually buy a new album, I'll usually default to the vinyl. The artwork is so big and pretty.
![]() That or I'll buy both! In the case of La Roux's latest, I bought it three times (signed CD, signed vinyl, 'fantazine' edition). |

It’s a virtual guarantee these are coming in September? The reason I ask is a few years ago retailers I think GameStop or Best Buy had listing for Metroid Prime Trilogy for Nintendo Switch then the listing disappeared and the game was never announced.

Which is not me bashing vinyl, just saying it's a niche medium for niche audiences. That's what BD and UHD pretty much is already outside of major blockbusters, and will be more and more as time goes on. There's nothing wrong with that, niche markets can be awesome. However the big danger is companies like Disney wanting to keep their Mandalorians streaming exclusive to push subscription numbers. Maybe someday soonish they'll just keep that big movie exclusive as well, because it makes more sense to them. And yes "things change" and you could never have predicted 2021 in 1991, but I think if you're holding out hope for some kind of mass turn to physical media again you're setting yourself up for disappointment. |

I’m frankly not saying anything about streaming, so I’m not sure why you keep yanking the conversation that way. I’m only saying that the resurgence of vinyl was so unforeseen, so inexplicable, so the-last-thing-anyone-ever-would’ve-expected 30 years ago, that trying to say anything definitive about 4K UHD being the last physical video disc format, or really any prognostications about physical media decades from now, is destined to be a fool’s errand.

Between this and the listings for 2-4 also in 4K, it makes me wonder if potentially Shout/Scream might be attempting a new box set... then again, Paramount probably has 6-8 and the two R. Zombie films now via the Miramax catalog deal, so that may be a bit trickier. And it also wouldn't be a "complete series" set since we still have two more films coming out, lol.
Eh, at the very least, we'll probably see a listing for 5 pop up as well, considering it usually follows close behind 4 (probably since it's the same rights holders, Trancas International). |

Well, have you ever listened to many of the original Vinyl pressings of many albums on a good setup? If anything, a lot of them are still the best sounding versions period especially when you consider the mastering put into them. If CD really was that much better sounding, i think a lot of audiophiles would have already given the format at the very least a similar kind of attention to to the way Vinyl is treated. Don't get me wrong, CD is a excellent format but still.

Lionsgate acquired RZH1 through their purchase of Lantern. I’m not sure when Sony lost the rights to RZH2, but it’s now on streaming services (such as Tubi) with the Lionsgate logo. Additionally, the Sony Blu-Rays have gone OOP.
