On the interwebs. It's not something we should be talking about here.

Is it that time of the day for someone to ask if there's been any updates?

The closer we get to the end of the year, the closer we are to the announcement.

The announcement being that this has been delayed to 2022.

Some of you guys need to chill. There are still five months of the year left. They’ll announce when they’re ready to announce it. Neon Genesis Evangelion is going to be one of the biggest releases of the year. So hold onto your horses. It’s coming.

Has anyone found a Korean retailer that will ship the Mirage set to the US?

As noted by WTK, solicitation to the various KR online retailers has been postponed.

They were released on DVD, was it an extra with the first BR release? Can't remember.

They are full CAV, have great audio, and most importantly don’t have the DNR and smearing of the THX masters. These were ported over here on LD as the first Letterboxed versions on LD here, but they’re CLV and some have framing issues from the removed Japanese subtitles.

Still, if you see any version of Star Wars (non-special edition) on LD or VHS, snap it up.

I also suggest watching this excellent video by the good captainsolo;

Hmm I bought the OT on Laserdisc when I was in Japan in 2004, I'll have to check which version I have.

I know YesAsia also sometimes sells these Mirage Ultimate Fan Editions sets and I've used them plenty in the past and wonder if they'll get it down the line.

And your thoughts on the "Limited Edition" DVDs that use this same transfer/master (bold as appropriate)?

They use the 1993/95 THX remaster, which have the smearing and DNR on them when compared to the JP Special Collections... but you can watch those DVDs on a modern TV without much work (just zoom in, as they're non-anamorphic, iirc) vs a Laserdisc which requires an LD player and other equipment to upscale it well if your TV doesn't have a good upscaler and comb filter.

Still, those "Limited Edition" DVDs are absolutely worth owning and are still a good version of Star Wars, even with their drawbacks, because they're unaltered and can play on any modern BD/UHD setup.

I am pretty confident that this notebook uses the artwork that will be featured on the Blu-ray set. Without a single doubt.

It would be amazing if this was released by the holiday season, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Still, would be nice to have an update.
