It's not as though the other studios are churning out back catalog month after month. Aside from Universal, I don't think anyone has done all that much either. It's been a slow year all around. I think last year had something to do with that, but I could be wrong.

Regular Disney hated Jessica Rabbit. It didn't fit their brand in 1988 either. That's why they put it out on Touchstone Pictures. Heck, there was nothing about Roger Rabbit at Walt Disney World the year it came out. I remember cause I was there when the movie was out in theaters. I didn't see squat there.

Agree. This is how they should handle the Fox catalog titles and get them out on disc.

A big day!
One of my favourite films of all time. Thank you Disney. If I’d listened to a certain YouTuber, this day would have seemed never likely to come.

Well, first of all, we can't call 2021 a "lame" year yet - there are still 4 months left. Second, four UHD releases within 6 months should be considered a HUGE change of pace for Disney, who said they were no longer supporting physical media outside of new theatrical releases not even a year ago. Time will tell if they more titles come out; Personally, I'm optimistic.

Disney's catalog stats:

DISNEY:
2016: 0
2017: 1
2018: 5
2019: 32
2020: 18
2021: 1

20TH CENTURY FOX:
2016: 12
2017: 3
2018: 7
2019: 5
2020: 1
2021: 2

Seems like Heat is delayed to 2022, and considering Roger Rabbit is announced for December, I'd expect anything else would have been announced by now if it were scheduled.

So Heat might be around December or 2022 possibly as well? Not really a fan of the front and back steelbook cover art, but the inside artwork is nice.

Nice, but after being spoiled by WB with those Zavvi boxes, part of me wishes Disney would get in on that game, too.

I'm not too crazy about the artwork on either package, especially the steelbook. Would it have killed Disney's Home Video department to use the theatrical poster artwork???
http://www.impawards.com/1988/poster...abbit_xxlg.jpg

I feel like we are missing a special feature or two from the Vista Series DVD. Am I wrong?

And, one more thing: HDR10 instead of Dolby Vision??? The Disney+ stream has DV.

Don't know why anyone is surprised about lack of Disney stuff. There were always the stories of them ignoring catalogues. I am just grateful they are even releasing Unbreakable, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Speed. They could have completely abandoned those.

The true test would be to see if they actually release anything next year that isn't Heat which is the only ready made 4K catalogue they have left.

The writing was on the wall since 2020. If Disney didn't see much need to release catalogues to cover up missing revenue from lack of theatrical 4Ks, there wasn't much hope going forwards.

It is disappointing when the biggest catalogue holder with enough titles to really push 4K forward is ignoring it.

It's possible Disney DID listen to that certain YouTuber and decided, hey, it would be foolish to just leave all that money on the table.

I wonder how much of the catalog releases this year (from any studio) is stuff that was worked on last year? It takes a while to prep these kind of releases, so it could be that the catalog stuff is what's hung over from when they could work a full load. That's the question no one seems to want to answer. Or even know the answer to.

She also looks too long, like she's been stretched to bend over the car.

I have no idea why they left Bob Hoskins off both covers when he is the main character. That's pretty despicable, actually, especially considering that Disney are presumably leaving their own branding off of the release because it has become too "adult" for them, which is incongruous with trying to market the film as fully animated. At least they put a mini-Eddie silhouette on the back of the SteelBook.
