I also have always wondered what happened with the guy who was with Judith Myers at the beginning of the original. Finding out the girl I just fooled around with was stabbed to death by her brother would certainly mess with my mind.

There is an "it" rolled into the "was"...she's breathy and distressed..."it was the bogeyman" (statement not a question; she'd spent the whole film telling Tommy there was no bogeyman but she now knows different) to which Donald replies: as a matter of fact...pause...it was. Makes perfect sense.



Even with performance given priority over perfect diction, I've never had a problem understanding her, even as kid popping my Halloween cherry via a terrible, snowy terrestrial TV broadcast.

I wasn't even aware there was a question/misunderstanding about this last line until a previous thread on this forum, now the discussion invariably pops up on every Halloween 78 thread, and its always interesting reading the variations of if "was", "it" and "bogeyman" folks have been putting in poor Laurie's mouth for years.
