At least the Shout! Blu-ray had a new interview with Zemeckis. It doesn't shock me that none of the three leads would do new extras.

To the Kino Insider: There is a HUGE error in the Thoroughly Modern Millie release!

I don't know how no one has noticed it, but I had my headphones on when I first checked out Thoroughly Modern Millie (one of my top 5 movies of all time), and to my utter surprise followed by my heart sinking, I realized that the Overture, Intermission and Exit Music are all in MONO. All three are stereo on the LP album, the CD soundtrack, the laserdisc AND the DVD.

In my opinion, this is more than enough to demand a recall. What is the use of spending the time and money on a 4k release, calling it the "Roadshow" version and then giving us 3 important parts of the film in mono when its always been stereo.

With all due respect, this is something I can't live with and I am sure most of the people who purchased it will find very hard to try and live with. Looks like the movie is a huge seller, everyone has sold out now, so it is important that something has to be done here.

I was absolutely stunned by the gorgeous picture on this disc, and the sound of the film is such an improvement over the DVD, I couldn't have asked for more. But to find the 3 breaks in the film were changed to mono sound for the blu-ray, when they are all stereo in every incarnation to me is just an abomination.

Insider: Is there anything that can be done?

$100 says they don't issue a recall for that.

Fixing the botched embarrassing release of *The* *Alfred Hitchcock's* Blackmail is more of a priority than making the exit music on Thoroughly Mortifying Musical slightly louder. In my opinion. But I do hope all our wishes come true!

Amazing Stories was one of the priciest TV series of all-time and was most definitely shot on film. There was nothing cheap or "video"-centric about its filming or post-production work.

Night Has a Thousand Eyes (1948)
• NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Imogen Sara Smith
• Theatrical Trailer
• Optional English Subtitles

B&W 81 Minutes 1.37:1 Not Rated
From John Farrow, the acclaimed director of Five Came Back, Wake Island, The Big Clock, Alias Nick Beal and Hondo, comes this supernatural film noir about a tormented magician played by Hollywood great Edward G. Robinson (Scarlet Street). When heiress Jean Courtland (Gail Russell, Calcutta) attempts suicide, her fiancé Elliott Carson (John Lund, A Foreign Affair) probes her relationship to stage mentalist John Triton (Robinson). In flashback, we see how Triton starts having terrifying flashes of true precognition. His partner, Whitney Courtland (Jerome Cowan, The Maltese Falcon), uses Triton’s talent to make money; but Triton’s inability to prevent what he foresees causes him to break up the act and become a hermit. Years later, Triton has new visions and desperately tries to prevent tragedies in the Courtland family. Can his warnings succeed against suspicion, unbelief and inexorable fate? Noir stalwarts Barré Lyndon (The Lodger) and Jonathan Latimer (The Glass Key) penned the screenplay based on the novel by master of suspense Cornell Woolrich (Rear Window).

Maybe Coogan's Bluff is a 4K UHD from the new master after all?

I know it would be a quick turn around, but Hannibal was quick from a remastered BD to UHD.
Coogan's Bluff (1968) 4K restoration was canceled by Universal, so we went ahead with our release.

Hannibal Blu-ray and 4K were released day-and-date simultaneously.

Or the negative no longer exists.

Obviously I’d take a full 4K rebuild any day but it can’t always be done for a variety of reasons. A properly done 2K upscale coupled with a new HDR grade can look absolutely wonderful, and can even be a significant upgrade over an existing 1080p SDR master. After all, you still ARE getting more detail by viewing the full 2K resolution, and besides, HDR is a much larger part of the 4K UHD equation anyway.
Not sure where you're getting your rumors from, but Universal had the cut negative for Eternal Sunshine, otherwise it would've been the same as Eastern Promises, an up-res of the 2K DI, with the new HDR supervised by the DP or the director.

The option of creating a cut negatives from hundreds of cartons of film could cost low six figures and no one besides the studio who owns the worldwide rights would take on such a project.

Deanna Durbin is not part of the WSL sale. We decided not to release additional volumes, but we have the rights for another 5 years or so and will reprint if we have to.

Pocketful of Miracles Blu-ray will go out of print, but we renewed the DVD rights.

When Universal delivered the restored master to us and told us the roadshow portions were only available in mono. We released what we received from them.
