I really enjoyed the Se7en rip offs that sprung up in the late 90’s. This and Bone Daddy are the two that always come to mind when look back at these knock offs. It’s no where on the same planet quality-wise as the film it was trying to mimic, but I always had a soft spot for it.

Seven doesn't connect with me for some reason. The performances aren't that great... There isn't much interesting about Freeman and Pitt's characters.
No matter what the movie shows me it rarely gets a reaction out of me. It's a bit too cold for its own good. IMO. I prefer Silence of the Lambs. I guess it helps that Hopkins, Foster and Scott Glenn and the rest of the cast are just better than what we get with Seven. As for Resurrection... Maybe my opinion of a movie I last saw 20 years ago will be different now. Who knows? But I can only base my opinion of the movie on my viewing of it then. I don't hate Seven. I've always liked the thrillers of that time period... Seven has some good imagery, but the characterizations aren't good enough to raise the stakes and give the film emotional impact. IMO. |

Looks like I'll be holding on to the DVD for the commentary; shame they couldn't snag the license for that. I remember it being pretty good, in particular Mulcahy talking about compromises to the shooting style that had to be made for budgetary reasons (handheld vs. dolly). Regardless, so glad this landed in the great hands at VS!!

I wouldn't go quite that far, but do love both of them.

![]() Plus, if you would've asked me last night how much my Resurrection dvd was worth, I would've guessed $5 or so. ![]() Cool to see this announcement and it getting some love. Flick doesn't seem to have a huge fanbase, but is already more than I expected. ![]() |

I threw my Resurrection DVD up on Amazon this morning and it already sold, and it more than pays for the Blu and moreso. It looks like there are a bunch more for sale all of a sudden on there now, though.
I didn't even know there was a commentary track on the DVD, never looked, but if I hadn't listened to it in 20 years of having the DVD, I'm never going to listen to it. And I need space. Outside of VERY special titles, which are very few, I don't mind losing extras when upgrading, especially extras I never watched, which is pretty much 99%. |
