Well, I'm up in the air on this one. Everything was flowing well for me except...

[Show spoiler]Star

That role should have been left out. Too cutesy. Ugh.

[Show spoiler]Every time Star was on screen, I wanted to break something. The end with Star was the icing on the cake of horrible. Oh hey look! Here's your remote. Giggle, giggle.

This sure didn't feel like a Terminator film. I know based on the timelines that the Terminators were not up to T-800/1000 standards, but they just looked like oafs. Kind of miss that super shiny feel that Cameron brought. Something was just off.

Agree with all the perfect white teeth comments. That bugged me a few times, especially when they were glowing in darker scenes.

[Show spoiler]As for the comments on "they hunt better at night", did they completely tweak the future Terminators to suck at night and be great during the day like Cameron's vision?

T1 and T2 were miles ahead of this one. Trying to figure out now if this is better than T3. Off to go watch that now to see!

I went ahead and tagged everything he said and my answers since its about major plot points

so if you've yet to see it, DO NOT READ ANY OF IT

[Show spoiler]this movie is ELEVEN years before cameron's future scenes, thats over a decade for them to get to the state shown in T1/2
they'll get there, right now they still have many supplies and are very capable of organizing against the machines

Quote:
,
[Show spoiler]forget that those helicopters and subs run completely off of computers and technology that the machines should control,
[Show spoiler]the subs/helicopters have no possible way to be linked to Skynet
just because they run off of chips and processors doesn't mean skynet can control them, skynet didn't make them and has no uplink to them and isn't advanced enough to remote control them yet anyway, its years away from that

Quote:
[Show spoiler]forget the fact that the future is supposed to be about John Conners and he is in maybe 5 minutes of the first hour of the movie and we instead have to follow some bad plot about a terminator with a heart,
[Show spoiler]connor was in one of the first scenes with his outfit as well as the majority of the film
the movie is only about 1h54 minutes

in the beginning he is not that important to the resistance (well the leaders atleast since they don't believe he is the savior they need), he is probably the equivalent of a lieutenant or captain in our army today (atleast thats how i perceived him to be), but as the film progresses he becomes more and more important, so it focuses more on him in the second and third acts because of it. But to say 5 minutes is beyond exaggeration.

Quote:
[Show spoiler]forget about the fact that {spoilers ahead} a pipe goes through John Conners heart and they do the buddy carry like he was shot in the shoulder . . .
[Show spoiler] it didn't go thru his heart, if it had, he would have died quickly
it went through his upper abdomen or slightly to the right of his heart

and, who cares how they carried him?
they were leaving a freaking explosion, i don't think they were paying attention to how they got him out, just that they DID get him the hell out of there

Quote:
[Show spoiler]the part that was unforgiveable and made me walk was the heart transplant from the terminator that just had his heart damaged by the Arny T1 terminator into John Conner in a frikkin mash tent.
[Show spoiler]his heart wasn't damaged, just stopped
Connor shocked it back ala defibrillator

as far as the surgery,
what's so hard to believe about the transplant?
you're saying that they don't operate in the field or in non-sterile environments in wars??
its not hard to believe they could have pulled it off

Quote:
I am scared for those of you that loved this film.
and i am scared for you for not being able to understand ANY of that

most of that was nitpicking, its my assumption that you would have disliked the movie no matter what

anyways, on a better note: I wonder when theyll introduce the laser type weapons seen in the future scenes in Terminator 1 and 2....?
maybe late in the next one, if its set far enough after this one and not just 1 or 2 years

maybe 5 years?

if not, probably the sixth

I didn't find this one to be very entertaining.
I know I'm probably in the minority here with this opinion.

To the gentleman that has removed the guts of both my post and his reply I state the following: I apologize for not having enough experience on your forum to make the spoiler tag that was needed. I did place a spoiler warning before a major plot point but the rest I did not feel was any earthshaking revelation. With that said I do not appreciate you painting my post as an attack on anyone in this forum. I made a general comment that I have trouble understanding how anyone could like this film. You obviously loved it and took offense to my comments. I can assure you that was not what I intended. I would like to see you response so I can know what you are referring to and how you can logically explain some of the holes in the plot. The only one I could see is the comment about how Skynet had not reached the level of development in which they could control other computers. I did realize this and understood that was the argument that the director would make but it was contradicted by alot of the technology and plot advances that was given to the machines when it was convenient to move the story along.

just highlight anything under spoiler tags to be able to read it

as far as posting with them, this is how you do it

[ spoiler ] text here [ / spoiler ]

but without the spaces between the brackets and spoiler and /spoiler

How subtle. Everybody who likes what you don't is a retard! Got it. That being said, I liked this one. I thought it fit well in the canon, or what very little of it I know of. I especially liked that the top bill might've been easily split, maybe even a little more towards Sam Worthington whose character was just great. I think I'll need to see it again as I wasn't in the greatest of moods, but still enjoyed it.

I think retarded is a little harsh. May be guilty of accusing people of being easily entertained. Sorry to those offended. By the tone of the post you can tell how disappointed with the film I was. Big fan that was big time let down.

Also I think that the vision of the future in T1 and T2 was also made with the presumtion we may have things like that by now. Look at Back to the Future part 2, I believe the movie take place in 2003. They had hovering cars and skateboards.
I think that being it is 2009 in the real world and Salvaton takes place in 2018 they wanted the weapons and such to feel more at home with the technology today. I mean if judgement day knocked out humanity tommorow I highly doubt we will have ray guns in 10 years.
I like the idea of Skynet developing this new technology in a effort to gain an upper hand and the humans stealing it and using it on them.

This movie is pure awesome!!!

If you read my follow up post I completely understood that this movie was set earlier than the future in the T1 and T2 series. My problem was the plot allowed for advanced technology in certain scenes to make the story move along or work. That was only a minor problem I had with the film. My major problem is I thought the plotline with the new "hybrid" being the focus of the first half of the film. I would have enjoyed it much more if they focused the first hour instead on the actual rise of the machines and left the second half with the struggle to save Kyle.

Terminator 3 was called Rise of the Machines but it didn't show anything but the government going into a bomb shelter before the actual "rising" happened. I understand the rise of machines happened between 3 and 4. My point is the rising of the machines as a plot point would have made a better first hour of this movie.

I'm reading your sig there Diesel and I'm just thinking except for that one part, Bale's intensity has been held back by the script or director or whatever. Not necessarily in this movie but in his previous work. I think soon, he'll become a perennial Oscar nominee.

So did you figure out how to read the spoiler tags? There's a sticky at the top of the forum that you can read how to post them and actually practice using them. It's important that we post in spoiler tags for at least the first week of the movie showing so that we don't spoil the movie for the fans that haven't been able to see it yet.

So did you have questions to my answers to your post?

And just what did I say to get you all riled up to think I'm accusing you of attacking the whole forum?

i'd like to see him get a nom atleast soon
he's one of the best actors out there
i was hoping Public Enemies would be the one to get him a nom but word is his part is small (last i heard atleast)

i want him and depp to get noms/wins eventually
they both deserve it

Or its just a plot hole.

Oh and can anybody tell me why they were using ordinary ballistic weapons? All the depictions of the future war in the previous movies showed laser weapons.
