Laser Ultra is a combo-package of 4K Laser Projection from Barco and Dolby Atmos audio.....so when they give a movie the Laser Ultra label you can be sure you get the treatment mentioned above

Great film! Ending isn't as good, but only because the story wasn't complete.
I hope the decision to make part 2 will be made soon by Legendary and Warner. I honestly think that the two films combined will be one of the best epics made in the 2020s.
I thought ending was great all things considered. But why not trilogy?!
[Show spoiler] They didn’t even come to the middle of the story on Part 1!

It's just a little sudden
[Show spoiler]and the scene just before wasn't very logical as a last scene (it's not explained why Paul was fighting with Jamis) and not true to the book (fight happened later, in the cave of ridges)
.
That being said: it is a great movie and most of the changes Villeneuve made to the book were logical from a cinematic perspective.

If we're talking about two, 2 hr. and 40 minute-long films, that's nearly five-and-a-half hours to cover the entire book, which is actually more time than even the extended director's cut of the 2000 Sci-Fi Channel Dune miniseries got to tell its version of the story (4 hrs. and 55 mins.). So it should be fine. It's encouraging to hear that Villenueve plans to direct a third film covering the events of Dune Messiah if the second film performs well, and that book only needs one movie to do it justice (being the shortest out of the entire 6-book canon Frank Herbert-series).

I will not be satisfied until a fully rendered CGI worm explains his views on political economy to me.

Bring on God Emperor of Dune!

Evidently director John Harrison actually wrote a script for a third miniseries covering God Emperor of Dune after Children of Dune did so well for Sci-Fi in 2003, but it ended up not happening due to various reasons. But yup, GEoD is my personal favorite novel of the entire series (I don't even rate all the childish, dumbed-down Brian Herbert/Kevin J. Anderson-garbage as "real" Dune), although I could possibly see it working better as a TV series, due to its sheer scope (especially if they wanted to also cover the millennia between the third and fourth novels in any great depth).

Cool. I'm thinking of seeing it a second time but then in Laser and Dolby 7.1. The screen is even bigger than the one I saw it in ultra laser/atmos. But the bigger screen is in 2D, which is nice.

True, I recently read the book again and it covers almost 2/3 of the first novel. They moved some characters over to the second film and a couple of pivotal moments with the Fremen. But I think they chose a nice place to end the first film. There's still a lot to cover in the second film tho. I figure that will also be a 2,5 hour film, if not closer to 3 hours.

Messiah is my favourite of all the Frank Herbert sequels. Would absolutely love to see Villeneuve's vision of that come to life too. I think he'd make another film between Part II and Messiah, fits the characters if they're a little bit older for that story imo.

So "if" these films are a success, are we going to see Aquaman in all of these adaptations, and are the films going to span 15000 some odd years (considering the latter 3 books)?

Tomatometer is off the charts! We're going to need to balance it out with more shrimp and white wine.

Yeah, it's at 90% now. Maybe everyone is drunk on the out-of-corona-prison Kool-aid so their votes are a bit too high, this being the first block buster a lot of people have seen in the cinemas for some time.

But I think it's still a good sign that this is a move that is being well received.

I remember finding reviews for another movie that had a 2/5 rating that was listed as positive.

Rotten Tomatoes gets manipulated, and it's obvious. It's largely a marketing tool for studios more than an information tool for consumers.
