The music score was a 16 track multitrack production, those synths should be completely enveloping the soundscape if they did it proper.
You misunderstood. And like I said, that was not a full review. The Atmos track does create more immersion throughout the whole film but the last 2/3 are just not as active due to the nature of what happens in the film. In the first third you get the rain and lightning, and combined with the score and cinematography it really does set a very nice atmosphere for the rest of the film. The last 2/3 just simply don’t have much action or ‘things’ happening above ear level, hence why it’s not as active as the opening act. They could have placed more things in the heights I guess but it would have sounded forced. The music is carried to the heights throughout the whole film, and that definitely creates a more enveloping environment. but there’s not much besides that because again, not much happens above ear level within the film itself. I quite liked it. It sounded good and balanced. The Atmos capabilities aren’t wasted at all.

I haven’t been able to take screenshots yet to do a more direct comparison with the Lionsgate release, but I did not notice any distortion while watching it at all. Everything looked natural in terms of proportions and symmetry.

I think I'll watch first with Atmos, then mono next time and see how different it is. I have some critical listening headphones, would like to do a comparison, and spot things like fullness and impact, how the synth hits ears etc, it's how I realized the Phantasm mono is better than the 5.1 for my tastes

Went to my local Best Buy after seeing some post that it was available in stores early. Fortunately I found it and picked up the last copy on the rack.

Does anyone think these new editions could possibly go down to $22 or $21 before Halloween?

The way they have been selling I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of stock before Halloween. In all seriousness you never know they could come down, or possibly a Black Friday deal. I am not sure how long these will be in production, the slipcase is quite nice, as its not a slipcover, so I imagine if they keep these active, they will eventually drop the slipcase and perhaps we would see a lower price point then, maybe $19.99-$22.99 but who knows when or if that even happens.

Switch from what? An older Blu-ray or to Ultra HD Blu-ray?

The new Blu-ray is from the same 4k transfer, so that's going to be a improvement over the older Blu-ray.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray is an improvement over the the new Blu-ray.

I would say you were probably reading the wrong reviews. I've never read a review that didn't have a opinion about how the transfer looked. In fact, I never bother to read the review about the movie itself, I would (and still do) only read about the transfer and audio portions of the review.

This is a quote from our BB staff BR member about a possible sale on Shout Halloween titles

No one can really answer your specific question (price point) with any authority. But, the magic 8 ball and tyrok both say a "sale" is unlikely.

This isn't accurate. VHS in general often featured the original poster art for tons and tons of films. Of course this doesn't apply to every single VHS release, and by the 90's they were getting ugly with the photoshop crap, which DVD continued with. But early VHS often featured gorgeous artwork. And the early big-box releases were great because they featured extra large front cover art.

I thought the first one looked incredible on this new release. I decided to order the rest of them as a result. Anyone think we’ll ever get 4K releases from Shout Factory for the remaining titles after 5?

There are a few rumors floating about regarding the remaining titles. Cliff at Shout Factory did mention in a recent interview that they have hopes to release Halloween 6-8 in 4K in the future. Many are speculating that those films (and possibly the Rob Zombie films) will be released next year. The other rumor is a potential 4K Boxset of all of the Halloween films to coincide with the conclusion of the new Halloween Reimagined Trilogy (2022-2023 with the latter year being more likely as it will be the 45th Anniversary of the original film). None of this is confirmed though, it's all speculation other than Cliff confirming that they want to release the remaining films in the franchise in 4K.

They've grown on me as well, it's something different. At the very least it will be on a shelf so I'll only see the cover before I take it down to watch it.

So this popular youtuber found the early releases at Best Buy, bought them at $26.99 each and is selling them at $69.99 each on Ebay, and what's sad is he already sold one copy
