At least it's on-brand:

Not at all. Like I said it's not even a proper nose. And your real one's a beauty. No need for an operation there.
And no I'm not going on a cycling holiday with you.

Just received The Dark Eyes of London.

Love the art on this release. Can't believe it's only cost £11.50 (direct from Network)

Yeah, it’s a steal for such a lovely package.

I preordered it on impulse as soon as Network announced it and I’m glad I did!

Same here, a lovely set. The Monster also arrived yesterday.

I'll probably squeeze them into my Halloweiner viewing.

Me too.

Unreal what a bargain Network offer. Another label adding a fancy slip and artcards...add a good few quid on.

I take it TDEoL is supposed to have that scuffed look on the slipcover? I thought mine was damaged at first, now I’m thinking it’s printed on.

I had a similar reaction but if you look at the "pack shot" on Network's product page the scuffed effect is on there too.

Supercar arrived this morning, looking forward to Fireball XL5 as when it arrives. Network has none an amazing job on this set, just like their last set I picked up of Monty Python Flying Circus Norwegian Edition.

How does the movie look?
Is this a major improvement over anything out there?

I haven't watched it yet, but apparently so.

The inside case gives some restoration notes. It's done by the same team that does their usual restorations, but does state some of the issues like missing frames are burnt into the available print they used.

It’s not bad at all for a print source once you get past the opening credits which are rather soft. Sound has a bit of sibilance but dialogue is clear and it doesn’t sound over-restored which isn’t always the case for these old films.

I can’t find screenshots of the US release but it looks far better than the reviews of that sound.

Is there a reason Network never released Hitchcock’s Secret Agent?

They released all the other talkie Hitchcock films that ITV own (other than 39 Steps which ITV released themselves).

Well in this instance, the VCI is good enough. For a DVD. Released around 1998.

Still have a week or two before the Network arrives here. How is the audio? All prior releases have had poor to pitiful audio.

I've popped in a cheeky order for 'The Dark Eyes of London' direct from Network now and hoping I will receive that package as illustrated

When VCI proudly proclaim they have restored a film, run a mile!
