I think now you can see my approach to things, and why it's overall healthier. Trying to convince people who are so set in their ways to look at things a different way is already incredibly hard in real life. But on an internet forum? Ha. Just a waste of breath and an easy way to stress yourself out. Doesn't end up doing anyone any real good in the end.

Besides, other users are bound to quote those messages anyways, so it's not like ignoring the offending user(s) makes you completely oblivious to what's going on.

I see Ralph Potts over at AVSFourm also gave this title a nice reasonable review and sums up which disc out of the UHD and BD is the one to watch going forward.

The process of actually having useful, genuine information about this release should start happening in the next couple of days.

There have been a couple of posts where people have given their opinion on it. And seem to be satisfied with what they are seeing.

Digital home video is a whole different thing it can only bring you close to it and even then it's not the way it ever was in theaters because you're not in a theater watching it on a huge screen projected. If you guys are so die hard about that... build an actual theater in your home. It can't cost that much more than scanning every film reel of Basterds and editing everything together shot by shot. Becuase if you screw up one millisecond of a cut you ruined the entire theatrical experience and you don't really like movies.

Why do you think he has so many subscribers/fans? It’s because they’re exactly like him. I literally said this a few pages back: he’s Joe Sixpack with a YouTube channel. And you know what? Fair play to him/them. Go with what you like, it’s your money. And opinions aren’t illegal.

But the excuse of “but I/he doesn’t know tech stuff” (his #1 fan on here has also used that exact same argument) rings hollow whenever he starts talking about tech stuff. It’s not him disliking x disc that I have a problem with - again: opinions may vary - it’s him or anyone else using spurious technical reasons that have no basis in reality to support those views that is the annoying thing. This focus on upscales is beyond silly because if Basterds and Pilgrim had the same grade, just with a TROO FORKAY transfer, he’d still have given it a big thumbs down.

If someone’s not a tech person, and they proudly & publicly state that, then don’t try and be one because then we enter into the realm of objective fact and not subjective opinion. But eh, it’s the internet, what do facts matter? It’s basically the video reviewing equivalent of horse dewormer and should not be given the publicity on here, instead of going into paroxysms of nerd rage every time they speak.

I don’t know why people get so worked up about these types of reviewers. Just don’t watch their videos, don’t follow them on social media, and live in ignorance of them and their acolytes (which is exactly what I do). You can try and educate them with facts, but where does that get anyone nowadays?
