I almost bought a sony 52" lcd tv before the saleman asked if I had any young kids.......

That changed my mind to getting the 60" rear projection tv......

....the reasoning behind changing to rear projection......the boy can throw something at the tv and it wont break....if I would have bought the lcd....most likely it would have been a gonner.

i wouldn't recommend buying a sony, but there are plenty of people that will swear by them though. you need to do your own research and see what is better for you. i'm partial to samsung.

I have a Sharp Aquos 52'' and I absolutely love it. I have a friend whom after seeing my set went and bought the 47" model and he loves it.

I've also considered plasma, but I don't like the glare, and they are still pretty expensive, especially the Pioneers which are arguably the best. The new Pio 50" in 1080p is $5,000.00! Granted, that's better then they were, and I know there are cheaper sets from other manufacturers out there, but for $2,300.00 (that's MSRP, I'm sure there will be better deals out there) you can get a Sony 50" 1080p SXRD. Heck you can get a 60" Sony for $2,700.00! Samsungs are even cheaper I believe. I definitely prefer Sony to Samsung btw, especially the SXRDs, but to each their own. I just can't afford plasma yet...someday perhaps.
