Halloween II certainly feels like the first movie, thanks to Cundey's cinematography and Carpenter & Howarth's score. The problem is the script. Laurie being Michael's sister is the least of the film's eye-rolling moments. The recreation of the first film's ending, where Michael backs up a ramp after being shot seven times from a six-shooter. The killing of the girl in the house for no reason. The massive hospital in a small town with no patients (other than a couple neglected infants) and a very small staff. Loomis mispronouncing "Samhain". Michael losing a ton of body mass between movies. Laurie having completely different hair. Laurie shooting out both of Michael's eyes, even though I'm betting she's never fired a gun before...
At least there's a scene where someone slips and falls because of blood on the floor. That's something you don't see in a horror movie. |

Just got a response from Shout regarding the encoding error. They claim it's a player issue and nothing to do with their HDR10 encoding. Looks like no replacement program. Guess I'll have to buy a new player to avoid their shit encode and watch it in DV.

![]() Hi, Our production department believes this is a player-related issue. They inform me that people have been reporting the same issues with Universal's The Thing 4K disc and Arrow's Dune 4K disc. If it were an encoding error, they tell me it would appear on all formats and all players—not just on HDR10 on some players. (Our authoring house tried to duplicate the issue on their players and could not, which further points to it being a player issue.) Customer Service Shout! Factory 1640 S. Amazon finally has this, and the rest of these releases, in stock. The prices aren't great, but I ordered anyway, because I love this franchise, I don't want to wait any longer, and I don't want to miss out on the nice slipcases.
The slip for part 1 is much nicer than I anticipated, so I feel it would be a shame if I didn't get the others as well. Hopefully, everything comes in minty fresh condition, and without any issues. ![]() |

Well, I guess we all need to pony up and go all in on a Dolby Vision setup. Things are setting up for DV to win the format war against HDR10 if this is the trend like Shout Factory is claiming.

I believe it’s a player issue since it’s not there on mine.

Received mine today and tried it on my Panasonic and Sony players, glitches on both players. Granted it's only a frame or two but still disappointed.

I don't even have a great set-up - just a $500 TV and a $200 4K player, but having Dolby Vision was well worth it if I am going to be plunking down $30 a disc like this. We can play the blame game all day, but that doesn't change the reality that on release after release, DV is just a better experience. We don't have to like the how's and the why's, but it just is what it is. |

I have DV set up (TV/Rec/UHD Player) but just one UHD player Panasonic 820 of all the places there had to be a glitch it had to be this bit lol wonder if encoder got bit distracted or something lol ![]() also is it visible on BD or just UHD ? |
