Admittedly I'm not super far into the game but I haven't had any problems with the bosses yet (other than the tutorial one which is supposed to be near-impossible).

Instead I have problems with fast normal enemies, underestimating normal enemies, and traps. I still cringe when I think of a pack of dogs or dying by getting rolled over by a ball...

There are different choices when it comes down to playing a fighting game because they can be played any how, you either play by the game's rules or you break them.

Ninja Gaiden 2 only sold 1 million. If a difficult game like that sold 1 million, how much do you think this will make?

I am not saying this game shouldn't come out overseas. I have no problem with difficult games infact I want it to come to the UK too. But I just think they should ship a limited amount of copies. If people can't finish Ninja Gaiden/Black/Sigma or Ninja Gaiden 2 in "Very Easy" Acoltye or Ninja Dog Why should they bother with this?
Because for all I know is they will complain in the end.

By the way is this online!???

You're saying people don't buy game because they can't finish the game. IMO, people don't buy the games because they're not worth finishing. If the game is fun, people will play it regardless of how difficult the game. I spent many hrs on Uncharted and RE5 and while the highest difficultly was pretty hard and frustrating, I still played it because it was still fun to play.

I owned this game and haven't played much of it because i didn't find it all that exciting, but I only managed to get past the tutorial.

Well not to fear Atlus and NIS usually don't send out enough copies of it's games rather then sending out too much. Yes I know all of the ones I mentioned are examples of the most difficult fighting games but does prove a point(of course I could of added some other random difficult game but just mentioned the ones that came off the top of my head when I think of a hard game to beat). Sometimes it's better to have a game with a challenge then a one you can beat in just a couple of days.

Is there 2 player splitscreen co-op in Demon Souls?

Here is a co-op vid i've found, but it seems to be online co-op, not offline splitscreen

No, there isn't local co-op in Demon's Souls.

Furthermore, online co-op probably isn't what you'd think either. One person at least must be alive, and you can't just co-op anywhere, you can only co-op in a place which hasn't been cleared yet, and only the person who's "in charge" gets credit for the clear.

It's a workable co-op, but it doesn't really promote playing through the game with a friend.

Release date confirmed for 10/6 in NA. "Deluxe" edition also detailed, and pre order bonus.

Quote:
We'll spare you all the verbose displays of affection, as you're likely already familiar with the amount of love we're showing this game. In short, it's an action RPG that is equal parts mind melting and ego deconstructing. What we can probably share with you today is that Atlus has informed us of the exact date you'll be calling out of work to play Demon’s Souls: October 6.

Yes, that's right, October 6 is the day you learn the true definition of pain. That girl in high school who left you for the rich, BMW-driving kid? That's nothing. The professor who told you your writing wasn't good enough for the letters section of a community newspaper? No comparison. We could go on, but harsh reality is making a few of us teary-eyed.

In true Atlus fashion, a deluxe edition with extra goodies will be available for $69.99, compared to the standard version which be priced at $59.99. That extra cash buys you a 150-plus page strategy that will not be available elsewhere and a slipcase for your precious, precious game case. Those who decide to pre-order either version will receive an art book with your standard array of concept sketches and whatnot.

Since we love Atlus so much, here's a big ol’ quote from a very important person: "Atlus Spoils is all about giving back to our fans and thanking them for their support, and we're excited to be able to do something very special for Demon's Souls," stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Atlus. "On October 6th, PLAYSTATION 3 system owners will be treated to the definitive release of what many consider to be the most innovative action RPG in recent memory. With both the standard and deluxe versions of the game accompanied by irresistible North American exclusives, like a special pre-order bonus art book, we hope this is an offer patient Demon's Souls fans will be hard-pressed to resist."

So remember, have your $59.99 or $69.99 ready on October 6 because, well, we said so.
I admit that the recurrent mentions of "punishingly hard" kinda make me wanna wait and see a demo, even if pre ordering sounds tempting with the art book.

Collector's Edition all the way! Was so glad to hear this make it over to the U.S., hopefully it's as brutally difficult as they say.

Wow. October is going to be expensive, Uncharted 2, DS, Dragon Age: Origins, Windows 7....and that's not even counting blu-rays!!!

Well that release date isn't too far off I guess. Shouldn't be that hard since most of the game has English text and dialogue already

I really like that cover for the standard edition. I'll definitely be preordering this one soon. Hopefully amazon will do the booklet thing with their preorders.

Demon’s Souls Pre-order Bonus Expands, Now Also Includes Full Soundtrack
Posted by Aram Jabbari // Manager of Public Relations and Sales, Atlus

Quote:
Hey folks, AtlusA.R.A.M. here, and I’ve got some news to share regarding Demon’s Souls, the upcoming action RPG for PLAYSTATION 3.

Now, if you’re unfamiliar with Demon’s Souls, getting up-to-speed should be as easy as checking out the blogs we’re featuring in the official game message boards, hitting up the game’s official website, and checking out the great PlayStation Eye chat we had with the incredibly awesome Jeff Rubenstein.

As you may already know, we’re offering fans who pre-order either version of the game (Standard or Deluxe, at participating retailers only) a full-color, 40-page art book featuring sketches, designs, and renders that wonderfully show off the game’s gritty medieval aesthetic. On its own, this is a pretty nice bonus (says the publisher offering it), considering it is being thrown in at no additional cost to the customer, but we’ve recently decided to take things a step further:

Resist, if you dare.

In addition to the art book, fans who pre-order will now ALSO receive the game’s FULL soundtrack CD. That’s right, we’re going to throw 24 tracks (about 71 minutes) of music into the pre-order bonus as well. And if you’ve ever heard the game in action, you likely know that the music is haunting, atmospheric, sweeping, and orchestral. Don’t worry, people who have already pre-ordered: the music disc is secured on the back inside cover of the art book, so you won’t miss out!

So, whether you reserve (at participating retailers) the Standard edition of the game, which would net you the game, art book, and soundtrack CD, or whether you upgrade to the Deluxe edition, which gets you the game, a 150+ page strategy guide, a collectible slip case, the game’s complete musical score, and a premium art book, you’re going to be getting a heck of a deal.

Sample from Official Demon’s Souls Strategy Guide

Of course, these extras are in addition to all the changes and enhancements coming to the North American release of the gaming, such as:
  • All-new North American cover art
  • All-new North American online servers (which ensures a level playing field for newcomers)
  • An improved localization, which addresses many grammar/inaccuracy issues from the overseas version

Join us, won’t you, as we venture into the Kingdom of Boletaria on October 6th, 2009. It’s going to be a tough battle to deliver the realm from evil, but hey, at least you’ll have a ton of free swag to comfort yourself if you happen to reserve your copy today.

Until next time, friends.

Soundtrack sounds like it would be very cool.

Is there a demo up on the JPN store?
