I never bought any previous editions in 4K, I still have the remastered BD.

Sony just started the UHD Superbit collection:

Looking at the 2016-2017 list of titles released, I hope they don't re-issue a lot of the ones I already have:

- Spider-Man trilogy
- Langdon Trilogy
- A Few Good Men
- Men in Black

I'm sure the big franchisey ones will get reissued with Dolby Vision and new extras at some point - this is a new trend Sony is starting. We better get accostumed

Like I'm more on the simple alley, don't have much space.. likely will be a digibook, but. I just want all the movies and all the extras without paying scalper price. I'm good if it has that.
If there is one thing I’ve learned as a collector is that there is hardly ever a comprehensive collecting of extras on a disc. I’m sure this upcoming release will leave off some previously released extras, but here’s hoping.

That's exactly what I did as well! If it weren't for the new extras and OG audio on the blus, I probably would've skipped the steelbook, but couldn't resist. I've lived and breathed this franchise my entire life...any hint of something new, especially cut footage or unreleased stuff from this era, gets my money! I have a bit more strength with other franchises at least haha.

Yeah, I think the 2018 left some 2009 extras, but some that were mostly just fluff of the era. Personally I understand not having every single extra ever made - but at least those that are most important or can be transfered over easily, most of them video based, commentaries, etc.. if not, I'll have to get the extras myself from other methods.

Well, there's the Labyrinth one, which I'm sure Ghostbusters will be based on. Did that skip any extras?

Me I hope they do upgrade both the spider man trilogy including the 2.1 and the editor’s cut of 3. Also the men in black trilogy and one day consider upgrading the just released the last action hero I was disappointed they didn’t give it Dolby vision.

Is " blade runner 2049" a possible candidate for a Dolby vision re release from Sony ???

Maybe some of us don't want to keep buying the same movies over and over. These studios need to stop being greedy and include everything the first time around.

I'll wait for the deleted scenes to hit youtube or some other free streaming site.

But if you don’t buy it there might not be any chance they would ever give us new editions with new extras we never had before on other movies. because the studio would see no point they aren’t seeing a profit so why would they bother.

I don't think it would be because they don't have the rights in the US

Yes they have the rights in the rest of the world, but I don't think they would author a new disc when they can't sell it in the biggest market. That's just my opinion

TBH, I don't buy movies for extras. It's presentation of the movie itself that matters.

Extras, while nice to have, are just that: extras.

I mean, how many times do people really watch them? For me, it's once maybe twice and that's it.

Not gonna lie the big appeal of these new UHDs will be the (hopeful) inclusion of OG audio.

I think Men in Black is probably unlikely but the Spiderman trilogy maybe because they could tie it in with the home release of the upcoming movie. On the other hand a re release might also just be repackaged discs too, so I'd say it's a 50/50, with a slight leaning towards them repackaging the existing versions.

I hope they re-release them all, and I'm being serious. Labyrinth 35 was so good in every respect and I just wants more redone like that. I wouldn't necessarily rebuy every single one of them (I haven't even watched the Langdon trilogy yet ) but I'd sell your souls to get the Maguire Spider-Men reissued with DV and fresh encodes, especially Spidey 1.

I believe next year is the 20th anniversary of SPIDER-MAN, so a reissue is a definite
Possibility.
