The more I think about what I saw this weekend, the more I think I'm content to say this movie ends the only Michael Myers story that I need. I keep trying to chase that dragon and I keep deciding to go back to the 78 and the 81 movies and they give me all I need.

![]() I check the new movies out of curiosity (a lot of times to see how bad it is.), but to me, Michael really died at the end of HII. Loomis taking Myers out for good by sacrificing himself to save Laurie and Haddonfield, is a very satisfying way to end the story of the boogeyman. I could go on and on, but the series really should have stopped at part 2. It has its flaws no doubt (Laurie having aim like a sharpshooter, some dull parts, Myers falling off the balcony at the beginning that looks nothing like the one from part 1 and WALKING ON AIR ONTO THE LEDGE ITSELF THEN FALLING ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by IncrediblesFan82; 10-21-2021 at 05:17 PM. |

Got my copy yesterday and it wouldn't play past the Scream Factory intro. Took the disc out and there were massive fingerprints all over it. Clearly happened at the factory. Had to give it a good washing. Watched it in HDR-10 and the digital pixellation glitch in the best shot of the film was VERY APPARENT. These independent labels need to QC more than just the Dolby Vision stream!

Watched this last night. It played perfectly in my Oppo and the image is beautiful. Nice touch of HDR without blowing out the brights that I usually dislike.
This movie is so much fun. It runs at a great pace. Have to admit I like it more than the original. It reminds me a lot of Jaws 2. Its hokey and over the top and more of the same but very well made and just works for me. I love it being a continuation of the same night. I love the opening that connects the ending of the first with the beginning of the second. I love the POV early stuff with him stalking other houses in the area. Him stalking the hospital corridors is very creepy and I remember when I was a little kid seeing it for the first time it terrified me. It's a little more polished than the original. I really love the few scenes where he emerges from the dark like a shark. The opening credits with with advanced pumpkin head are also great - sells you are getting more of the same but escalated. Never got the hate for the sister link. It gives Myers motivation. The flashback to Laurie as a little girl visiting him is pretty bad and unnecessary. Could have just kept it as her being told. But it does have 80's tits and is a little more gonzo. I had to laugh at the "therapy pool" having a "scalding" setting : ) Her wig is terribad but it has a lot less problems than the new Halloween movie. I am not hearing good things about the recent sequel so I am happy to have my Halloween to beginning with Halloween and end with Halloween 2. Always have to watch them back to back. |

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd very much rather have Halloween II with the deleted scenes reinserted. They really wouldn't be harmful to the pacing, there's also a scene that actually fills the plothole of why the Hospital went dark, and it really does add character beats to everyone that flashes em out more which is never a bad thing. Only thing that I wouldn't put in is the alternate ending, the og ending is perfect. Overall I'd like an extended cut of HII, it'd go very well with the extended cut of H78.

Is this still worth getting even with the glitch? It's worrying me, but I need a second opinion.

... so in comparison to the 2018 Steelbook, the new Blu-ray disc from this set looks to be the more vibrant in regards to color. Now, that could be good depending on your settings. If you like to warm things up, the new color-timing can be a bit much. I have my display leaning to warm settings anyway, so the prior Steelbook version still looks really good. The new BD visually echoes some aspects of the Universal 30th Anniversary transfer slightly, in regards to detail and grain structure... also the way it interprets shadow. But of course, all of this is now in pristine condition thanks to the original negative being scanned. Perhaps Universal was working with good elements, but simply not a work from the ground up like this new effort. At the end of the day, Shout's previous interpositive remastered Steelbook version is still one helluva good BD, but the new release offers a very good presentation to be sure. I'm actually quite pleased with both the 2018 and new 2021 Blu-ray discs and I'm definitely hanging on to them both. The Universal from 2011 still has Terror in the Aisles which is obviously a keeper. The new BD is of course glitch free just for the record. All of this is in regards to Blu-ray only.
