That what RZH2 did for RZH for me. I still don't like RZH that much, but it has its moments and the sequel redeems it for me.

For RZH it doesn't matter really. Both cuts are fine. I honestly can't even remember the differences, but The T-Cut has a traditional escape seen where Myers kills the correctional officers and the unrated cut has some edgy rape scene. Neither really affect the film all too much. RZH2's directors cut is where the big improvements are shown. Laurie's character is given more screen time (even if it makes her less likeable) and its truer to Zombie's vision about trauma.

It has limited commercials, but it's fully uncut. I'm watching it on FXM through the Roku. I never got around to buying the Blu-ray and haven't seen the film since the theater.

Watched this again last night.
Glad the film exists, particularly after how the character of Laurie Strode was treated in 'Resurrection'. Although, will wait and see where this trilogy goes. I'm going to have to watch Halloween II, IV and H20 again to be sure. I still think Halloween II is my favourite sequel, probably because it picks up directly after the first, has Curtis AND Pleasance and importantly, shares the same cinematography. It's not perfect, for example Curtis is sidelined a bit too much but realistically so (same as Halloween Kills it appears), a couple of the deaths are a bit over elaborate and a couple of characters are annoying. In Halloween (2018) I found the opening shot in the mental institution a bit on the nose, the podcaster (or one of them anyway) really annoying, one kill really surprised me early on, the middle of the film drags a little at times although the third cast is good. I like the sense of empowerment it aims for, although it does seem to do a retread of the first film. In that sense as always, the original stands alone. The kills are gruesome, again, this does stand apart from the original which is a shame in a sense, although meeting modern expectations I guess. Certainly captures his rage. The film looks great though and Curtis puts in a great performance, I like the three generations aspect to the story. |

I can't remember if it's in the official novel or one of the earlier scripts, but I thought it was explained that she wears the christmas sweater because she hates halloween so much after growing up with her mother. it certainly makes sense anyway.

Wow, that makes totally sense. Vicky even says something similar to Allyon early on. "Let's just skip this Halloween crap and go straight over to Christmas. Put up a Christmas tree and shyt" or something to that extent lol.

I think H’18 works pretty well as a self-contained story but the one thing that keeps it from standing on its own in my opinion is that it doesn’t show Laurie finding out that Michael was never targeting her. For forty years she believed she was his main focus and it would’ve been nice if we saw her realize that she was the one obsessed with Michael, not the other way around. That would’ve completed her arc nicely.
