$1K?

That budget is like in the middle of no where.. too low for a decent DSLR, and too high for a good point-and-shoot... you either get a top of the line point and shoot, which you probably can with $400, or a basic entry level DSLR, xti, or Nikon D60.

if you're not going to change lenses and just for travel/honey moon... get this one.

Leica

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_Camera.html

It has super wide angle lens at 24mm, with extreme wide aperture at f2.0!!!!! which is perfect for low light environment. Even though it does offer up to 3600 ISO, but people dont use that high, as they create too much noise.

Any real photographer would tell you to get this one, if you're not getting a DSLR and want a "top of the line point and shoot". this is a very very sharp and fast point-and-shoot, and trust me, you will not regret it.

Leica is like the BMW and Canon/Nikon is like the Acura/Lexus.. (ha, ok, well, they serve different purposes, but you get what i meant) a Leica DSLR lens cost between $5K - 10K each for almost every lens.

Mind you, my new everyday lens of 17-55 f2.8 is $1060, and my other everyday lense 24-70mm f2.8 L is $1160 for the lens alone.

So, consider the Leica an extreme good buy at less than $1K, with 24-60 focal range + f2.0 aperture!

You either get that, or just get an entry level DSLR with kit lens (which isnt so good anyway), but good enough for your daily use I guess.

Like the poster above said, being an amateur photograph, my gear cost well over $8-10K easily.
