The alternative? I couldn’t bare it. I couldn’t live without films and streaming is the future so……..
Entertainment isn't going anywhere. They will just come up with more sustainable ways to deliver it. And if they don't, we'll all die anyway when the planet won't sustain us any more so either way you won't have to go without movies .

Yeah, you have a point. If films go, so do I!

I have not redeemed my 3 months but been looking into it. It will be interesting to see if Apple can come up with an app for AVP's and AVR's that will stream Apple Music in Atmos. That way I would not need to have the projector on just to listen to Apple Music. My Yamaha display is limited but the Andoid app shows more info. (No Zappiti yet, just assigned an input).

The Oct/Nov issue of Sound & Vision has an article on Apple Spatial Audio.

If all streaming platforms go back to Standard Definition we can save this planet and 2 others from our solar system.

Don’t worry your display will upconvert it back to your quality of choice

I did bring that possibility up a couple of years ago. Vilya said it wouldn’t ever happen

I can stream atmos music without turning on the projector from my ATV4K.

Also, the ATV4K has lyrics and TONS of music videos with so many playlists.

I leave my ATV4K and my AVR on as they combined use less than an efficient light bulb when idle, so I can just say to Siri - Play Classic Rock or Play Tom Petty and so on and I've had good luck asking for albums. I can say play Sour by Olivia Rodrigo and on comes the ATMOS.

I'm very happy with the upgrade they recently made to Apple Music. I keep the whole Apple One service for my whole family. Just the Music and the Online storage covers the cost even if I don't use the other services and sometimes I do use the ATV+ and even the Fitness+ .... I haven't tried the games and my kids aren't interested in those games either.

Netflix’s bitrates are so low for HD, I doubt it’s a issue. . Add to that, improved compression breakthroughs and HD is the very least we should expect these days, world ending or not!

Wouldn’t fancy watching SD on a projector or Micro LED wall display.

Also, Don’t forget many major video streamers are considering offering gaming packages also. They won’t put up with SD streaming games in this day and age. The gaming industry is HUGE, way bigger than tv and film.

Update on my system….The Lyngdorf was returned this morning and haven’t landed on another processor, so decided to order the JVC DLA NZ8 instead. Still toying around with Storm Audio and Trinnov, but couldn’t pass up going this route. The Marantz 8805 is back in place until something catches my eye. Thanks to Sapiendut and Bruce for a couple of quick answers on their research.

WOW

Sweet !

Cheers ! I think you made a fantastic choice and I hope we both get them soon!

I waited as long as I could for a affordable Laser projector and that wasn't very long but now I have to wait a bit more.

My current projector (Sony 285ES) supports HDR but to use it I would have to tune it for every particular film... I just can't be bothered so I've been feeding it SDR instead.

Hope to revisit EVERYTHING soon.... Really hope to get in on the first or second shipment so that I might have it when my family comes for Xmas... .That, and No Time to Die UHD and I'll be happy as a clown.

I determined my throw ratio will be 1.7. I'm building a little box open in the front and back and attached to the ceiling as a kind of shelf mount.

He still says it, too.

The streaming genie is long out of the bottle; it ain't going back in and while its quality may not improve by much, it won't go backwards and reduce it. Hell, if streaming lowered their video quality, it would become radio.

Necessity is the mother of invention and all that. We will produce more clean renewable energy as we are increasingly forced to do so. It's not like we don't have the ability, but so long as polluting sources are cheaper we will keep sucking at that teat for as long as we can even if we are choking on the air while doing it.

Good luck with that fantasy. A small few may cancel Netflix, but they'll just then subscribe to something else.

Is there an app for iPhone, iPad, etc. for the ATV 4K that would allow control, navigation, etc. of same?

I noticed it's $100 so well in the noise of the SNR ..... I'm kind of undecided myself. I love the 3D I've seen but it's been a while. I think my glasses would work as they are RF and I have 8 or so pairs.

Um... you can airplay to the ATV4K but I think that will kill the quality.
