Is it? I have the corrected DVD replacement discs for BTTF 2 and 3 as well. My DVDs may be low res but it looks natural at least, unlike the Bluray which was awful.

Is the 4K any different than a 4k scan of the source used for the Blurays?

To those that own the 4&k set, is the back to the future ride bonus still a laserdisc sourced copy?
Are these heavily DNR'd? Because I don't think I've ever seen such heavy grain on a disc before, especially the original film around the time where Marty writes the letter to Doc.

Nope. Easiest way to tell is the "Marty, you made it!" line. The DVD was the first one to have it changed.

A comment said they probably used a shouted dub version due to the VHS sound quality of the time... this is the 1st time I am being told about this, must say the VHS audio sounds fake.

What I suspect it has been changed (but can't confirm) is the shotgun sound after Strickland fires in 1985-A.

As for the 4K, I don't remember anyone explaining (this is for BTTF part 2) why the reused bit from the original movie, that appears in the beginning (after the Delorean starts flying) sounds different, compared to the previous Blu-ray release.

Between 2 minutes and 2m05s. Even in this Youtube clip the change can be noticed:

Overall, all 3 films in the trilogy on 4K Blu-ray put the old 2010/2015 Blu-ray Discs to shame so much so that I feel very comfortable about tossing the old Blu-ray sets in the trash.

Bit the bullet again at $30. Hopefully these don't freeze/skip like the set I bought and retuned a year ago.

Got my set in October 2021 - Part 2 freezes and skipped once in one scene - other discs were ok.

For sure. I think people are nitpicking about the second film, even. Anyone using unreasonable high standards like "these need to be reference to warrant my money" or else they start to talk trash about the purchase and some even more fringe peak weirdness positing DVD masters being possibly preferable? Lol

These are great, imperfect entries onto the format. Pleasing colours. Good enough PQ. Smash the BD's. Oblierate DVD masters. They are the way to view these at home. So worth the good prices we're seeing lately.

Has Universal EVER acknowledged this? All 3 of mine freeze and/or skip and I've tried all sorts of things to fix them to no avail.

Well that's disappointing. I'll watch them right away and if they freeze send them right back.

Maybe its been asked before but as someone who absolutely can't stand 'boxsets' or steelbooks of any kind and prefers stand alone amaray keepcases, is the Australian release the only edition which contains the individual films in amaray cases?

Thanks in advance!

My part 1 and 3 UHDs are freezing. It froze at the FBI warning screen and I tried and ejected it about five different times. After playing the movie by selecting chapter 1 in the chapter selections, it finally froze when Doc opens his door to Marty in 1955 and I never got it to play any part of that scene again. I'm pissed and I dunno what to do because Universal has been terrible with disc replacements. I'm using a Sony ubp x700 UHD player.

Do I return this where I bought it or is the next one i get gonna do the same thing? Has anyone exchanged a set and got one that plays all three??

I literally came here to post this. I bought a set back in June and it froze slightly before then, in the middle of the dinner scene. New set arrived today and its freezing around the spot you mentioned when he opens the door. I'm using an XBox Series X.

So I’ve tried three copies of this set. All freeze around the same spots. Really pissed off with Universal as this is obviously a systemic flaw. Has anyone gotten any satisfaction from them?

I got my set shortly after it was released. I've watched all 3 films 3 times and they all played flawlessly/never once froze (Sony UBP-X800).

I have a feeling this freezing may be attributed to getting smudges or fingerprints on the discs when pulling them out of the horrendous packaging Uni gave us.

I cleaned my Part 1 disc thoroughly and watched a good amount of the first half. Sure enough, where it froze before, it didn't, but it did briefly freeze a few minutes after my original freezing spot, but then kept playing fine after that. I'm gonna keep experimenting and see if I can get all three of these playing fine.
