I wonder if someome has that set and
a) has experienced any playback issues with the 4k discs?
b) can confirm that the 4K discs are not locked with French audio/subtitles and does indeed have Swedish subtitles?

Just curious, are you wondering because the French release is much cheaper than the Nordic one?

Because the Nordic one is still ~€230. But to get it cheaper I think the German edition at ~€165 is a better option than the French one?

Don’t buy it, the 4K discs are completely locked with French audio when playing on a Swedish 4k player! I just tried and that’s true! I couldn’t believe my ears!

I ordered it for €130 incl shipping while it was cheap. Equivalent German steelbooks are €599 + shipping.
Still has not shipped, can probably cancel...
Seems like audio is locked... very worrying! Unless he is joking.

Do you need steelbooks? Otherwise the regular German release can be had for €165 at amazon.de.

Regardless, strange that the Nordic release is so much more expensive than releases in other European countries.

Nope, I don't need steelbooks but this was so cheap and I believe the 4K discs are identical in the German and French 4K sets.

Yeah, if the discs are identical to the Nordic release and you got it for €130 incl shipping then you made a really good deal. Approx half the price of the Nordic edition, shipping included.

That was obviously a joke. Don't worry, I'm sure the discs will be shared among regions and nothing forced. That'd be a first for HBO/WB. I ordered the set as well. If mine gets here before yours I'll let you know.

Just checked disc 2 of season 1, the first one that was done ripping. Looks like the same disc as everywhere else. Nordic subs included (Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian and Danish) as well as a ton of others. Also features a whole laundry list of languages. You can rest easy and look forward to your set. If I encounter any exceptions I'll let you know.

Just a small update now that I'm done with all discs in this set. All discs fine, but every single one needed a wipe down, and several needed more than one drive until they ripped without errors. I learned that this set - not this steelbook set in particular, just GoT4K - is known as a hard case. It gives many people trouble.

This steelbook set was probably the ideal way to get the discs, as it comes pre-wrapped in bubble wrap, and the steelbooks are cushioned individually. None of my discs were loose or scratched in any way. The wipe-downs were needed only to make them easier to read.

Most of theses discs are BD-100s. They are always difficult, and here you have 23 of them. The manufacturing is fine, but I believe the authoring was done in such a way that the drive needs to start reading around a layer break. Every single one had trouble mounting. After that it was mostly fine.

In closing: it's a superb set, the manufacturing of the discs is fine and it came well packaged. It's only due to the nature of BD-100 density that some of the discs may have trouble loading or skipping around a layer break. I suggest giving all of the discs a good wipe-down with rubbing alcohol before you start. Oh and: Swedish subs are on all seasons. Have fun.
