I agree.. This is by far the best Star Trek movie. I guess everyone is getting thier panties in a wad, because it's not the real Kirk or Spock. Get over yourselves. They are reintroducing the characters for a new generation. They have created an alternate universe in which we can see the original characters in a new stories that do not destroy the original show. You can enjoy both. I grew up on the Next Generation, and would one day love to see a reboot with those characters.

While I haven't seen Generations, First Contact, Insurrection or the new one.......how people can stomach The Motion Picture, The Voyage Home & The Final Frontier is beyond any logical explanation. Those are 3 of the worst franchise movies to come out in the past 50 years.

the voyage home got more non-trek fans into the theaters then even trek2 did ,at the time!

I can agree that Star Trek 2009 should not even be on this list because it does not even resemble a Star Trek.

Because its crap! It's not Star Trek by any stretch...in name only. Let me ask you somthing...if you a re starting over from day one, why add a whole new timeline? Huh? Why not just start from the begining? Ill tell you why, it was the only way they could fit Nimoy into the film! Dumb, Dumb and Dumber! Just start from the begining and go.....no reason for all that other. This film tries so hard to shy away from the Original yet has to try and mimic Shatner...right down to the "apple".

They are not starting over as you say, just re imagining the origins of the characters. They added the new timeline so they could do sequels and not mess with the original show and upset the fans. It tries to shy away from the original? It actually embraces it. Did you not pay any attention to the dialogue? They made several refrences to the original series as well as a reference to Enterprise. So I am having a hard time understanding where you are coming from. I get that you didn't like it, I respect your opinion. I am not trying to start an arguement or disrespect your opinion I just want clarification on your statement.

elvis has been all over this movie since day 1.
i agree that nobody can replace the real kirk&spock,then again nobody could replace the real elvis.

like it or not startrek moves on and because its making a lot do ra mi +a new fan base,paramount is flipping a big bird at you.i wonder how many who hated this film will buy the blu-ray

I agree with the King, this movie is pure junk (its the xbox generations attempt at a Star Trek). Sorry, but thats the way I see it. Timline? Bah! Time for Hollywood to move on and let classics stay classics.

so your saying trek should just die off into the hollywood sunset.
the next film may just do that.to me this 2nd film will tell the story.
btw the way startrek doesn't have to be the tos or any other series.
they could come up with another crew,ship as long as the stories are in the trek vein.having 5 tv series proved startrek can be anything.did you see startrek of god &men on the internet?did you download the borg wars a movie made from a startrek video game,interesting stuff.

but knowing hollywood will see 2 more films with this new cast.
i know nimoy didn't have to do this movie,but he liked it.what you &elvis or the man in the moon thinks about this new trek doesn't matter,the masses have spoken with there dollar.based on what you say we should just watch the same trek over &over again boring. btw i don't think there a worst trek film,even st v had a good story.

trek has always been better as a tv series,why doesn't paramount consider that.maybe a 2hr special or something.if you wanted old cast members you could intermix at least the 24th cent.casts.i know a lot of fans wanted the different casts to appear together in a movie.a tv special could do that.

not at all, they did TNG... they could continue that way. But the issue is not Spok or Kirk are sacred , or that they can't be recast. But, like every franchise/show, there are rules and this brakes them in important ways. Look at ST in all its incarnations and you will see some basic rules in time travel. Like the losties say what has happened has happened and even though it is not exactly true for the ST universe all incarnations have that there is only one "official" universe/time line and what has happened in it has happened (and the times when the "bad" universe -time line or dimension- is at the beginning it is "fixed" by the end which is the universe we get the story from.)

PS and this does not even go in the deeper that ST always had a message and was never a boring action sequence after action sequence.
