Default A List with ALL good things... "Why Blu-ray ?"

Hi,

I´m sorry if some same thread exists already, but i tried the search function,
>> no matches...

So,

I saw a list, made by some HDDVD boys a few days ago in some other thread,
and i thought we should make the same and put all the good reasons for Blu-ray together.

We could then use this Link ( or whatever ) to show them to people who are undetermined / double-minded.

So, could we make a List with ALL the good things and pin them ? Why Blu-ray ?

( If we already have this List, please show me...i would recommend it... Thnx )

More movie companies supporting blu-ray
More electronic companies supporting and creating blu-ray players/recorders (not just Toshiba, MS add-on, and crap manufacturers)
Blu-Ray burners are well ahead of almost non-existant hddvd burners.
Blu-ray videos sell more, hence more support on the way.
Uncompressed audio (hddvd can't do that, or will rarely do that).
More disk space
And a lot more of the biggest movies. Pirates 3, Spider-man 3, Harry Potter (dual format?), Ratatouille, The Simpsons Movie, Live Free or Die Hard, Fantastic Four 2, Ocean's Thirteen (dual?), Rush Hour 3, etc.

Thanks,

Thats a good thread, but it´s all scattered.

we have to put these things together.

Like:

---- Why Blu-ray ? ----

Encoding:

+ MPEG-2 / MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) / VC1

While HDDVD only has...

- MPEG-2 (H.264) / VC-1

Capacity:

+ 25GB (Single Layer)
50GB (Dual Layer)

While HDDVD only has...

- 15GB (Single Layer)
- 30GB (Dual Layer)

Supporting Studios:

+ Warner Bros. (Neutral)
+ Diseny (Buena Vista)
+ FOX
+ Lionsgate
+ MGM
+ Sony Pictures

While HDDVD only has...

- Universal
- Paramount
- Warner Bros. (Neutral)

BDA "Blu-ray Disc Association"

+ Sony
+ Panasonic
+ Pioneer
+ Philips
+ Thomson
+ LG Electronics
+ Hitachi
+ Sharp
+ Samsung
+ Dell
+ HP
+ Apple
+ Acer

... and so on....

This List has to grow

Incorrect. HD DVD supports AVC, several titles like Riddick and Band of Brothers in Japan are AVC (mostly the Toshiba titles)

not forget to mention about Blu-ray's technical superior in bitrates, 52Mbps Blu-ray against 32Mbps HD DUD.

In my eyes a very important factor, because high bitrates is the resolution of high picturequality!

also: "Hard coat technologie"

Agree 1000%. Though I expected very high bit rates, that hard coat technology really helped sell it for me. At these densities a scratch that doesn't bother DVD could kill blu-ray.

sorry for bringing up an old topic...but I didn't wanna start a new thread....

Anyways, I just realized Band of Brothers got released in Japan...with like u said AVC and DTS-HD..., however I thought Spielberg's titles are not going to be released by Dream Works...and even if that's not the case, y only in Japan, not State side...and any chance of a bd release?

oh ya, some screens of it

Spielberg was executive producer for Band of Brothers, not director.
