I've literally heard similar stuff here from Screen Fillers Non-Anonymous™ when they open up 4:3 to 16:9, "Well in the 16:9 the lady in the crowds' face isn't cut in half ..." Yes, they're neat and, yes, they should be on discs. |

I don't see the issue with the aspect ratio portion of his video. It's not like those people who advocate zooming in to fill your entire screen, despite losing information. On the contrary, you're gaining additional information. I'm sure most people would be happy to have this on the disc.
However, I can't agree with his overall conclusion. The expanded aspect ratio wouldn't be enough for me to prefer the streaming version. I'll take the UHD disc any day. |

Right? It's just the most bizarre paradox. At heart he's seemingly a screen-filler who doesn't care a fig for creative intent if it's not what he wants to see re: HDR grading.

![]() It’s ones man’s opinion. In case you missed the video, Disney + offers you the choice of which aspect ratio you prefer. + Vincent didn’t just start & stop there. He also informed people that watching the IMAX versions over the alternative resulted in a higher HDR peak brightness in side by side comparisons. Now you have to fill in the gaps to extend your video long enough to get “monetized” which clearly Vincent did by throwing in some “fluff” opinions on the state of UHD vs Stream. |

The extra pixels give 4K TVs the advantage when it comes to colors as well. They can achieve far more dynamic colors than 1080p TVs, and they can deliver deeper shadows too. It's also worth noting that 4K is the way to go if you're looking for special features like HDR. The extra pixels give 4K TVs the advantage when it comes to colors as well.
