Agh! I overlooked The Lost World. For some inane reason I thought they'd kept the original 5.1 mix. Should've known better. Universal ********ers!

I wish Universal would release the first Jurassic Park 4K on its own. I never cared for the sequels.

They used matching artwork for 1-4, and then for the 5th they used some regular poster artwork. Drives me nuts

The DTS-X mixes on all 3 are trash.
I didn't think Jurassic Park looked that bad that it needs a new scan, and the audio for three movies didn't sound bad either.

Before you get angry, have you ever listened to the DTS:X audio of these movies and if not, give them a chance. You just might like it a lot more than you've anticipated.

It needs it because they removed a lot if not all of the grain.

The color timing is still wrong but it's better than what we had for years. Still unwatchable for me.

They're bad. There's a lot of additional foley that sounds very out of place. There's also some bad fake sounding panning that isn't present in the original mix. And to top it all off the low end is completely neutered in the DTS:X mixes. The UHD's are the worst the trilogy has ever sounded.

A lot of people don't pay that much attention to the foley and listens to each and every intricate sound effect in a movie to see if it matches the film, not just for Jurassic Park. Who does that? The general audience is concentrating more so on watching and enjoying the movie overall, not trying to detect incorrect foley sound effects in each and every scene, unless that's what a person is specifically looking for.

You should live up to your reputations and make lists of some of the differences you noticed, with times. I imported the cinema DTS for Jurassic Park and The Lost World a few days ago. Checking them so far, they sound very, very similar.

1) You're in the wrong forum to think that we aren't concerned for every little present/absent detail in something regarding video or audio. That's literally what this forum is for, in a way.

2) It seems a bit hypocritical to praise something and then belittle its importance at the same time.

No, it's extreme, weird and unheard of because, that's not what a person normally does when they're watching a movie in a theater or at home, unless (like I said before) it's what they're listening for, specifically is to find fault. Most of the general public don't even know what a foley is, and what the profession consists of in filmmaking, lest watching a movie and trying to find fault in it.

My point wasn't specifically about the foley. Even if it was, sometimes people can find fault in something and not point out why.

Put it this way: I'm sure there are many casual moviegoers out there who may own T2 and King Kong on UHD, and they may even like the picture despite any color timing, DNR, etc. They'll say: "It's good." There are technical merits that can point to why it isn't, or how it could be better if that data was better incorporated. Of course things are subjective which is why those films came out the way they are, but that is the kind of discussion you'll see on here, and no one would be batting an eye.

Though you did come on here, stated the DTS:X was good, somebody explained its inferiority, and then you said that it doesn't matter what technicalities make it inferior because nobody cares to listen for that. You may be right that it is not our duty as consumers to pick apart why something is something, but there could be reason is to why it isn't relatively the best that it can be, and that can be discussed. Perhaps if these films addressed the foley, panning, and LFE then casual moviegoers may even acknowledge that it sounds better.

Yes for The Lost World - not interested in the others - and even if they were good it's actually besides the point. But if people who know these movies better than I do say the audio is problematic who am I to argue? If Universally stupid had included the original 5.1 mixes it wouldn't matter how good or bad the DTS:XXX was. We could - God fobrid! - choose.
