Default David Carradine found dead in Bangkok

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31103217/?GT1=43001

Breaking news

updated 17 minutes ago
Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series “Kung Fu” who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He says Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room and is believed to have committed suicide.

Carradine was a leading member of a venerable Hollywood acting family that included his father, character actor John Carradine, and brother Keith.

This story is still developing. Please return to msnbc.com for updates.

Why would a 72 year old suddenly have the will to commit suicide?

One of life's mysteries....

Maybe he got some very bad medical news recently? Just decided to make it quick. Some people just can't accept to slowly deteriorate. I know I would prefer a sudden quick heart attack then spending 10-15 years without a brain having people feed me and change my diapers.

Very sad indeed! He was excellent for his role in Kung Fu The Legend Continues and played a great villain in Kill Bill movies. RIP

Default very sad

The guy had his demons, but it seemed like he had overcome them with a renewed career (though to be fair the guy never stopped working...ever!) and relevance to a generation who didn't grow up with him on t.v. and films in the 70's and 80's. Whether it was new troubles or the something unresolved from his past the end result is still a bit of a shock and certainly tragic. He left a varied and eclectic body of solid work behind and hopefully that's how we'll remember him over time. From someone who grew up with Death Race 2000, Death Sport, Kung-Fu (and it's many incarnations), Q, Lone Wolf McQuade even The Warrior and The Sorceress (a proud addition to my DVD collection) and later Kill Bill of course, I definitely feel a sick feeling in my stomach today. Think I'll go watch Kung-Fu. It always seemed that life answers could always be found in an episode of Kung-Fu.

Mr. Carradine will be missed . A great martial arts actor. I would love to see the original death Race 2000 in Blu.

Very sad. Like many others here I never missed an episode of Kung Fu as a kid back in the day. The show was deep. Couldn't say that about television back then or now. I'm sorry that things got so bad for Carradine that he felt that suicide was the best option. Rest in Peace.

Very sad indeed.

When I was 13 I had Karate lessons the same night of the week that Kung Fu aired. It was the best day of the week for me. I always left class feeling a little spiritual, and then Grasshopper would give me more to ponder. Carradine seemed like a good guy.

R.I.P.
