To ur question, I dislike Scream 3 I think it sucks within the Scream franchise. I dont hate it and I can watch it fine cause Im a fan of the franchise. Kind of like how I can watch Batman and Robin even tho it sucks but I can watch it cause I love Batman. |

I don't have a link because I watched seventy-bajillion interviews with the cast over the past few weeks, but I'm pretty sure that Neve confirmed that the intention was for it to be Dempsey's character in one of her solos.

That woulda been kinda excellent if they did that. Sid being a mom and married to Mark(a legacy character) felt rushed out of the story. Like I found out AFTER seeing it that she was married to Kinkaid.

Also, Neve doesn't really remember part 3 lmao. I watched one interview where she didn't remember Roman. Oop. |

Jamie Lee Curtis is much more passionate about the Halloween franchise and has come to terms to the fact that Laurie is her biggest role. Neve still seems a bit tired about the Scream movies but She's so talented I'll give her a pass. And she genuinly loves Wes and recognizes the quality in these movies. But she recently said Roman's reveal was the most shocking to her but then she kinda forgot he was her half brother lol.

And while it's not actually canon, I've also watched the film under the lens of Angelina still being the second killer, which I feel helps patch up some of the continuity errors the film has. Its biggest flaws still for me are the ghost mom shit and the weird voice changing technology that didn't exist at the time. Scream 4, on the other hand, is the one I find to be completely throwaway. I know it's need for continuity to this film, but I found Scream 5 handled the meta commentary on reboots/remakes far better than Scream 4 did. Scream 4 did at least provide me my favourite of the reveals (Jill), but it also followed up what was the lamest reveal to me (Charlie). Overall, I'd say my ranking of them now is Scream (1996) Scream 2 Scream (2022) Scream 3 Scream 4 I do tend to flip/flop on the first two. The originals definitely the better film objectively, but I mostly prefer the second film. I like its college setting better and like watching how the characters cope with PTSD, but I can't deny that it definitely drags at points and they could've easily shaved its running time down by about five minutes. Still, even with the faults of the sequels, I think Scream is by far by the most consistent of the main slasher franchises. A large part of that is that it has the least amount of entries, but I can at least watch them all without issue compared to the other franchises that have entries I'd prefer to skip. |

I'm definitely in the minority but while the first movie is timeless and original, each sequel improved every other aspect. At least for me, on multiple views, the first one gets a bit boring and too simplistic, which was the key to its success I guess, but I enjoy the more elaborate set pieces and whoddunit elements of the 3 sequels.
As you can understand I'm not considering 2022 canon at all, they're gonna retcon this mess a la Halloween H20, oh guess what, it was written by Kevin Williamson. They will call Kevin Williamson to fix a Kevin Williamson franchise. Can't get more meta than that. |
