Thats weak tho, one line in the film. If thats all u can skip it and be fine. I’ll get around to rewatching S3 and S4 as I lead up to 5 and see what else is there.

To ur question, I dislike Scream 3 I think it sucks within the Scream franchise. I dont hate it and I can watch it fine cause Im a fan of the franchise. Kind of like how I can watch Batman and Robin even tho it sucks but I can watch it cause I love Batman.

This could be anyone but could be an allusion to Mark (and others) if we assume strict continuity from 3 to 5. Of course, maybe they were never "together," split in the meantime, this is a completely different Mark, they reconnected after the events of 4, etc.

Whatever the intent (which seems in 5 to be that it's Kincaid), I'd say the long-term odds that it specifically isn't him are pretty low unless they really want her husband as a character and Dempsey can't/won't return for a potential installment down the line. Especially considering all of the other "fan service" elements people keep bringing up.
They for sure had chemistry in Scream 3. It's him. To me it is, at least.

I don't have a link because I watched seventy-bajillion interviews with the cast over the past few weeks, but I'm pretty sure that Neve confirmed that the intention was for it to be Dempsey's character in one of her solos.

Neve didn't even know who Mark was in a recent interview. She's clueless. And writing a Character off screen is cheap fan fiction

That woulda been kinda excellent if they did that. Sid being a mom and married to Mark(a legacy character) felt rushed out of the story. Like I found out AFTER seeing it that she was married to Kinkaid.

The entire script leaked and I think they had a kitchen scene where they're rushing to get their kids ready for school.

Also, Neve doesn't really remember part 3 lmao. I watched one interview where she didn't remember Roman. Oop.

Neve always claimed that she didn't watch horror films, including Scream, as far as I remember.

Correct, she's never been a horror fan.

Jamie Lee Curtis is much more passionate about the Halloween franchise and has come to terms to the fact that Laurie is her biggest role. Neve still seems a bit tired about the Scream movies but She's so talented I'll give her a pass. And she genuinly loves Wes and recognizes the quality in these movies. But she recently said Roman's reveal was the most shocking to her but then she kinda forgot he was her half brother lol.

Yeah, Jamie finally just embraced it while Neve just does it as a job. It's amazing how much she doesn't remember though - I mean, most actors don't watch their own movies but damn - how do you forget the killer in a movie you starred in? She either has a bad memory or she was uninterested while filming. Especially since her and Roman had a pretty intense fight.

She was only referring to the books involving Sid and the Ghostface killing sprees that also inspired the Stab movies. Maureen's murder was its own thing with a different m.o..

You also gotta remember that "The Hollywood Murders" was mentioned as well.

I think the book on Maureen Prescott's murder was eventually rewritten and turned into the Woodsboro Murders after everything Gale witnessed in the first film. So the line would be correct.

They filmed Scream 3 in 1999. She's had numerous projects since then (including two additional Scream movies) and, by her own admission, doesn't watch the movies. I don't see why people are surprised that she forgets the details of it.

The book about Maureen's murder was still being written in Scream. I'd wager that Gale instead just reworked the book to encompass all of Maureen's murder + Billy/Stu's murder spree.

Rewatching them back in the lead-up to Scream 5, I actually found myself enjoying Scream 3 more than I used to. It still has its many faults, but it's enjoyable at least.

And while it's not actually canon, I've also watched the film under the lens of Angelina still being the second killer, which I feel helps patch up some of the continuity errors the film has. Its biggest flaws still for me are the ghost mom shit and the weird voice changing technology that didn't exist at the time.

Scream 4, on the other hand, is the one I find to be completely throwaway. I know it's need for continuity to this film, but I found Scream 5 handled the meta commentary on reboots/remakes far better than Scream 4 did. Scream 4 did at least provide me my favourite of the reveals (Jill), but it also followed up what was the lamest reveal to me (Charlie).

Overall, I'd say my ranking of them now is
Scream (1996)
Scream 2
Scream (2022)
Scream 3
Scream 4

I do tend to flip/flop on the first two. The originals definitely the better film objectively, but I mostly prefer the second film. I like its college setting better and like watching how the characters cope with PTSD, but I can't deny that it definitely drags at points and they could've easily shaved its running time down by about five minutes.

Still, even with the faults of the sequels, I think Scream is by far by the most consistent of the main slasher franchises. A large part of that is that it has the least amount of entries, but I can at least watch them all without issue compared to the other franchises that have entries I'd prefer to skip.

I'm definitely in the minority but while the first movie is timeless and original, each sequel improved every other aspect. At least for me, on multiple views, the first one gets a bit boring and too simplistic, which was the key to its success I guess, but I enjoy the more elaborate set pieces and whoddunit elements of the 3 sequels.

As you can understand I'm not considering 2022 canon at all, they're gonna retcon this mess a la Halloween H20, oh guess what, it was written by Kevin Williamson. They will call Kevin Williamson to fix a Kevin Williamson franchise. Can't get more meta than that.

I wouldn't say Neve Campbell wasn't passionate about scream she did say she wouldn't come back unless the script or directors were right for the job it means a lot to her I think. Jamie lee is just better at BSing her way through the press to big up the movie she bigged up Halloween ends like it was this big epic journey with big messages and themes which is all horse shit I liked Halloween ends but a masterpiece it aint like JLC said lol remember though JLC salary for the new Halloween movies comes with Box Office bonuses so of course she's got more at stake with selling the movie.

Scream 3 was a huge ass mess in production lets be honest for neve it was a 3 week shoot during a time in her life where she was the new hot actress in Hollywood with role after role she said she was exhausted during this period of her career

Neve was in the middle of shooting Drowning Mona which was why she had limited availability and screentime as well as a wig on.

They’re not going retcon this, so stop expecting it. General audience response to this has been overwhelmingly positive and it’s considered a success. If they didn’t reboot or retcon the series before now they certainly aren’t going to after this is a hit. This timeline will continue, sorry.
