Somebody wake me when they start releasing 80's Corman flicks again as exclusives. Not digging these latest releases at all.

I think they announced March releases early because they wanted to get ahead of the holidays. Otherwise they would have announced March releases in early January like usual. I'm betting we won't see April announcements until late Jan/early Feb.

I really wish they would start pumping out titles from the Corman library.. and not just as site exclusives either, there's just so much to be released I don't know what the hell they are waiting for...

Maybe they purchased the Corman library to pad their portfolio ahead of a selloff. Or as filler for a streaming service. Either way, it's SLOW going as far as that catalog.

It seems they enjoy sitting on titles. From what I understand, the Wynorski movies are literally being held back to piss him off, so they aren't in much of a hurry to get that stuff out. I don't know, maybe it's just super low priority for them...

We talked about the Wynorski films earlier this month or late last month if I remember correctly and zbinks shared a list of films that appeared to be under Scream Factory ownership now from the Corman acquisition and if that list was correct, then it appears that Scream Factory may in fact not own any of the Wynorski films we have been asking about. It's looking more and more likely that there was a sizeable chunk of titles we all wanted which Scream Factory wasn't able to acquire in the sale a few years back.

I am admittedly ignorant on a great number of those films in regards to what people like what would potentially sell, and what may have useable film elements for a Blu Ray, however if there was one title that stands out to me in regards to my being a bit surprised in that it still hasn't been released it would be Grotesque. Linda Blair, late 80's production, horror.... how was this not the very first film to be released following the acquisition?

![]() ![]() When a prehistoric half-man half-ape troglodyte is discovered in a cavern beneath the English countryside, Dr. Brockton, an anthropologist played by Joan Crawford in her final feature film role, attempts to quell public fears by studying the creature in her laboratory. When Trog is set loose by a nefarious businessman, played by Michael Gough, however, it embarks on a terrifyingly murderous rampage in a nearby village. I have strong sentimental ties to the 1970 British sci-fi horror film, Trog, directed by Freddie Francis, because it is the first monster movie that I remember seeing during my early childhood, by way of a daytime television showing during the latter part of that decade, when I was five or six years old. Despite its reputation as an oft-maligned camp classic, with an actor, Joe Cornelius, wearing a leftover ape suit from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, this screen story fascinated my childhood self, whetting my appetite for scary cinema forever after. A movie does not have to be great to be great. Crawford, God bless her, sells the concept wondrously well during her every moment in front of the camera. Cornelius masters the body language and mannerisms of the caveman quite well, adeptly conveying a personality with his eyes underneath the costume. The visual effects are rather captivating once the film gets down to monster mayhem business, with the titular creature killing a butcher and overturning a car by way of brute strength. One of my favorite memories from my initial viewing is of a short stop-motion dinosaur sequence pulled from Willis H. O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen scenes from The Animal World (1956). Producer Herman Cohen brought us a great many endearing B movies, namely I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), How to Make a Monster (1958), and Konga (1961). I will not try to convince anyone that Trog is a cinematic milestone, but it is nowhere near as bad as present-day hipster critics would lead one to believe. At any rate, I give it high marks for shaping my future. This Scream Factory disc looks wonderful. The extras, which alternately praise and ridicule the main feature in equal doses, are excellent. There was a filmed interview with Michael Gough from the 70s that I think was an extra on a bluray where he said he didn't mind playing roles like these. He seemed happy that people were asking him to do them.

My few orders have all taken about a week to ship and unless it includes a poster have been packed fairly poorly... ie multiple steelbooks in a padded envelope. Nothing has arrived damaged for me though, so no idea on the CS if that happens.

Every one of my orders from Scream/Shout has arrived in a proper sized box and then padded with designed paper with the logo for extra flair! Even my wife commented on how appealing the packages are when they arrive. Never had to return anything due to damage and have about a dozen orders with them. Happy collecting!
