If the glitch during the hot tub scene is what I saw then it's really not a big deal at all. I saw a blink and you miss it glitch appear under a boob and had a laugh to myself if that's what peeps were upset over.

How do people not notice it glitching several times? Blink and miss? Picturing the sloth from Zootropia at the BMV here, no offense.

I get the glitch on a Panasonic DP-UB820-K with Sony STR-DH790 receiver and BenQ HT3550 projector. As others have noted I think the issue is related to how certain displays handle the HDR10. Keeping it for the Blu-ray and eventual Dolby Vision capable projector but it's still too bad adequate QC was not done before it was sent to pressing.

As has been stated countless times, this is an encoding glitch on all copies of the disc. It's not related to the display, at all. Ripped copies even show the glitch on computer monitors. DV helps hide the issue, as the correction layer adds additional video information. HDR10 shows the glitch in all it's glory.

And as Brian81 stated above, it's a series of glitches close together, actually.

They really need to fix this, they messed up the disc, plain and simple, it's an encoding error on the disc flat out. A blemish on an otherwise wonderful collection, it's sad to me if they do nothing because it means they aren't standing behind a premium product.

False all around, watched this in November from a USB Drive connected to my
SONY 4K player, didn't had any problems, only in plain HDR tho,
as my display doesn't do Dolby Vision.

So it must be a player/some discs error.

This is boloney. You're just not noticing it. My girlfriend didn't notice it while we were watching but it was clear as day to me. Not everyone notices these types of things (though I can't understand how anybody wouldn't notice this).

This is 100% on all discs, and is visible with HDR10. Dolby Vision hides it.

How many more times does this have to be sated?

You posting in all bold doesn't make it true.

This is why Shout is hiding behind lame excuses and not fixing it.

Be great if we could see a screenshot of this glitch as I got a mild one that was barely noticeable (pretty sure I was running Dolby Vision though). Just curious to see how bad it really is.

There are several glitches. I bet someone could post if they put little boxes over the nips.

I have no DV, but I'm sure the DV fixes it and I guess the guys doing Shout's encoding did attend the same school as our SC friends:

Oh wow, I definitely have nothing of the sort show up on my disc. Maybe a millisecond flicker near her boob that's barely noticeable and a non issue. If that image is what people are seeing and it is in fact baked into the disc then it's pretty shameful Shout haven't addressed this yet. It is odd to me that Dolby Vision would completely hide this.

Again a boloney post.

It's not "100% on all discs" you just mad cause you got a bad disc,
keep complaining to Shout tho.

I always post in Bold, not trying to prove my point, but nice theory

Shout is not going to fix it, because it's not "100% on all discs"
otherwise it would've been recalled by now

Next time i watch this, i'm going to make video, post it to YouTube,
post it on here, so you can notice the big 'ole glitch.

You are flat-out W-R-O-N-G.

And there are lots of Shout discs with known issues that Shout has never fixed.

The glitch is bad for sure, but I think people are too focused on it. It's just a glaring example of a much bigger problem, that the compression of the HDR10 layer is ridiculously poor in general. I turned off DV to see the problem on my projector and yeah it's there, but the entire scene just looked awful from start to finish. It's not like it would have been acceptable without the glitch. The encode just sucks period - that's the real issue here.

Yup, the encodes on all 5 Halloween films are absolute garbage. I've said this a couple of times and I'll say it again: they're the most poorly encoded UHDs that I've ever seen. I thought SC was bad (and they are at times) but SC encodes tend to only shit the bed every now and then, whereas the Halloween encodes have constant issues throughout with their weird, soupy, pulsing grain. They're an absolute mess.

Is there a chance that the transfers will get better encodes overseas? Seems like the rights issues are impossible over here...

so this went from 1 glitch to "issues with Shout Factory discs" to
"the encodes on all 5 Halloween films are absolute garbage"

hyperbole much?

seen the discs for 2-5, and thought they looked marvelous,
they best they could ever be.

2 the best it could ever be. that's gold.

went over this release again and the difference between it and the included bd is not enough to justify sitting through a version with such terrible compression errors. I also threw in the universal bd again. better color on the new master. better compression on universal. in motion the shout just looks smooth compared to the universal, but you can tell that the universal was sharpened. what is with the bleeding glow on the text in the credits. 'An MCA Company' under universal bleeds orange outside the letters, and the credits do the same. pretty defined white 'An MCA company' letters with the blue/black of Earth underneath on the universal disc, though universal credits show the sharpening.
