Those Japan only releases are beyond my budget. I just hope we get a local 3D theatrical release.

Two issues with that:

1. Japanese discs are not usually English-friendly. They'll have an English track, and perhaps a full-English sub track, but for films with mixed-languages, forced English subs are a major issue if they are not on the disc. The foreign-language scenes are a real problem.

2. It puts it far out of the reach for most of us. There's no way I can afford $80-$100 3D discs.

What they should do is use a MOD model. Disney Movie Club is perfectly suited for this, so I have no idea why they refuse to consider this option. Or just go back to releasing them in the UK again. Even those are pricey to import thanks to Amazon's UK shipping costs now, but it's far better than shipping from Japan. I have no idea why Disney hates the US. What's the obsession over releasing them only in Japan?

I don't think I can bring myself to seeing any more Disney 3D films theatrically, if I can't buy them on blu-ray in 3D, knowing I could never own them. It would just sadden me as I'm watching it knowing that there was a time when I could look forward to experiencing it again just like that on my own setup in a few months, but now they've taken that option away.

I loved the first Dr. Strange movie, so I hope this one is as good and that mere mortals such as myself can afford the disc!

Well personally I'm over these issues as I own Black Widow and Shang Chi from Japan with Eternals on pre order.

I've said this before, but at least with a 3D disc existing we have options. If it is beyond your budget, you can still find a way to watch it, if you know what I mean. When the 3D disc doesn't exist, no amount of money will let you watch it in your home.

Personally I have no problem with subtitles. Now that hubby and I are getting older I find myself turning them on in order to catch dialog that's too "soft" particularly for Marvel and other action movies.

Same issue here with trying to hear dialog. Was able to get an “affordable” 5.1 dolby sound bar setup (Vizio M51a-H6 ~$300 yikes) and now we boost the center dialog channel and bump the others down a bit. It works great and don’t need to rely on subs like before for my 3dBRs and regular TV too.

you probably don't know this but this is not new in Japan, as an incentive for the Japanese consumer to buy their home made products they get bonuses, nice packaging and/or exclusive stuff, its been done for many years and as an example you can check it out on Audio cds. Its far cheaper for the Japanese consumer to import from overseas, so to avoid that why not making a 3D disc exclusive ?

I believe Japan is the last country still releasing VHS videotapes for new movies or something like that.

Thanks to them we still have the 3D discs for the MCU.

If you haven't watched it in 3D, you've only seen half!

Literally, the 3D adds significantly to the experience and includes the IMAX scenes.

Bad News: NO IMAX scenes
Only the entire movie in the IMAX Ratio - so only for Disney+ and not for the MovieNEX 3D Blu-ray

But if i won't sign for it if the service doesn't have 3D, what is the point for them to do this? Is this pressure really getting them more subscriptions? I really don't think so.

Who knows? They are screwing over all disc buyers - DVD, 2K, 4K, 3D. If you want the expanded ratio, the only legit way of getting it is to pay the subscription. Which I won't be doing - I don't pay for 2D versions of 3D movies.
