I just ordered the Seventh Seal, is the interview with Bergman included?

I think it's a shortened version of what's on the "Bergman's Island" dvd release.

Thanks, I saw that as one of the special features but wasn't sure if I should still plan on getting the Bergman's Island release.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I've been trying not to buy any Criterion DVD's since the Blu-ray line started. Though I have had to pick up a couple here and there; Grey Gardens (box set), Carnivale of Blood, and Man Bites Dog.

I know what you mean. I broke down and got The Hit and Brazil a few months ago.

"Bergman Island" is what's on the blu-ray. It's on the 2-disc standard DVD, as well. And, it's also offered separately.

So, either way you buy the new release of "The Seventh Seal," you're going to get the full "Bergman Island" that Criterion is offering separately on standard DVD.

The only thing is that the "Bergman Island" that Criterion is offering on all the versions is, indeed, a shorter version than what was originally aired on television. But, other than that, each disc has the same "Bergman Island" content.

Thanks, glad I didn't buy it then.

Yep, that's what I meant.

This all boils down to a matter of personal taste. I haven't seen the Button movie, so I'm really just buggin' in on a discussion I should stay out of.

Ellen Burstyn did some great acting in Requiem for a Dream and she probably should have won Best Actress over Julia Roberts, but the fact remains that Roberts also gave a great performance in Erin Brockovich. It's certainly the best work she has done to date.
I have never liked the acting of Denzel or Julia, so maybe that's why I thought of the Oscar's as a joke when Russel and Ellen didn't get the awards...

I also know that rumours of a "political motivation" for the Denzel award was the case (that it was "time" for a black actor to receive an Oscar for best actor in a leading role), but I choose not to believe that this circus can sink that low.

I had playtime pre-ordered even at the obscene price of $36 knowing that they would eventually drop it to the usual $27 Criterion price and the Amazon pre-order price guarantee would kick in. Well, the price did drop to $27 but my pre-order stayed at $36 so I had to cancel and order again. So much for the pre-order guarantee, I don't know why it didn't decrease the price.

Usually the listed price doesn't change, but the charge on your statement will be the lowest and then you'll get an e-mail confirming the POPG savings.

The Last Emperor dropped to $23 for anyone looking for it.

Yeah... I still didn't get an email for Kagemusha dropping price..... and that happened days ago.

My concern with their "Price Guarantee" is that one of these price "Glitches" will happen for an hour or so..... and they won't honor it because they'll assume people who pre-ordered it wouldn't be following the price..... and won't be aware of it

By the way..... Playtime went down?? $33 is the lowest I've seen on Amazon so far.

EDIT:

Yeah! $27 that's great..... now let's hope they do a sale for one or both of them and drop them down to $20

I placed my order when it hit its current, very reasonable price of $26.99. Next time, I'm not waiting. Neither title showed up in my gold box that whole time.

Quick question about RAN again (sorry to beat a dead horse). Tower has never deleted the title from their catalog, and is now showing a "release date" of July 21, 2009. Has criterion recycled the UPC, is Tower off its rocker, or has the title been rescheduled for a July release date? I notice that Tower has the cover art for "Made in USA" appearing on the details page for RAN, so its quite possible that Tower is just confused. Could someone clarify?

I don't want to condone "Tricking" Amazon, as many people have done here in the past...... but what Goldbox deals are for, is to "REWARD" you for contributing to Amazon, so I believe, if you buy the other Criterion Blu-rays, and rate them, Amazon will select others for you as gold box deals to encourage you to provide more ratings.... so select the ones you have, mark them as "I own it" and provide a review.....

I'm pretty sure that is one major factor that contributes to upcoming gold-box deals for individuals

Sounds like Tower needs to have someone with more time managing their site..... They don't know anything anyone else doesn't, so unfortunately RAN is officially canceled.
