![]() I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing RDR2 in 4K 60 fps on PS5 soon. Provided Rockstar updates it for PS5. |

I didn't think they could top the boredom of some of the stupid things they make you do earlier in the game, like the date mission, but when you get to the epilogue and they have missions built around milking cows, shoveling manure, and mending fences I almost had to laugh with the developers in laughing at me. |

You beat me. I just finished it on Saturday. Two days short of 2 years since it's release (I got it on release day). I haven't looked, but the amount of hours I spent playing this have to be ridiculous.

Yup
Thread bump Get mad! It’s been three years since I’ve played this, and I was excited to start it up again. I thought it was “just OK” three years ago - But everyone was raving about it - So I assumed it was because I played it immediately after The Last of Us (which is a perfect game as far as my tastes are concerned). So I’m replaying it now as I’ve forgotten most of it, and it’s basically NEW again, but…. It’s still not great The graphics and the integration between cut scenes and playable parts is phenomenal. The story is cool. But that doesn’t make a game. PLAYING the game and being set free makes a game (along with the controls and combat and melee attacks and ease of use). These controls feel clunky to me. But this game feels like I’m constantly in “tutorial mode”. I have to constantly look at the bottom right corner of the screen to see what to do (hold L1 and press o) in order to interact with whatever I have to do. I want to be set free. Meaning, I want to learn what the controls do, what the buttons do, and then play the game and enjoy it. But every chapter is different and feels like you’re still learning. I want to love this game. But when it’s off, I don’t feel the need to get back to playing like I did with so many other games that got lesser review scores. 6.75 out of ten Red Dead Redemption 1 was stellar Last edited by eiknarf; 03-26-2022 at 05:18 PM. |

I made it to chapter 4. But then I never bothered with it again. That was more than 3 years ago lol. Maybe I'll finish it at some point by focusing on story missions only. Definitely ain't gonna bother with the platinum trophy. That one is just insane.

Game is mediocre and Rockstar should feel bad. Last game of theirs I truly enjoyed was Max Payne 3. The controls and animations are night and day. He doesn't move like he has arthritis. I feel like it only plays that well because they had to be true to how Remedy's games played. When they do their own thing, there is always an overemphasis on realism, to ridiculous extents where every action is needlessly prolonged. GTA V and RDR 2 in many ways even feel worse in this regard than GTA IV. Also, default movement still being the walk? Get out of here with that shit.
Rockstar really needs to overhaul their mission structure. What's the point of an open world if every quest has to be done in such a linear way? Feels so 2002! |

The trouble with reviews is that they’re just one person’s opinion.
I would give any of the souls games a close to 0 score since I absolutely hate those types of games but I know they are almost universally loved. But I would give this hame an almost perfect score because I loved absolutely every aspect of it. |
