YES.

And of all theaters, it's a Cinemark! They're much stingier with 3D showtimes than AMC and Regal are.

IMAX must be coming back swinging with the sequel to one of the most acclaimed 3D films of the modern era. Plus that rumored Avatar 2 3D trailer must've helped seal the deal. Disney/IMAX can market Dr Strange 2 as having Cameron's 3D seal of approval.

EDIT: I checked Cinemark's website for their other IMAX venues. Tulsa and Davenport are listing IMAX 3D showtimes as well, and the rest haven't listed any showtimes yet, 2D or 3D. This is looking better and better.

It shows Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being shown in both RealD 3D and IMAX 3D at the Cinemark Lincoln Square Cinemas. The option to buy RealD tickets is enabled, the option to buy IMAX 3D is greyed out.

Edit: Any chance of Doctor Strange 1 3D getting a reissue?

For me, tickets aren't enabled for any showtime.

I think IMAX 3D is grey because it's just plain text, same as "Digital Cinema" further down. "IMAX 2D" and "RealD 3D" are black because they're logos, not text.

Tickets don't go on sale until next month, so none of them are enabled.

I don’t mind that as long as we get it with a glorious 3D Blu-Ray.

Would be great to have these movies that came after Black Widow with widescreen AR if not with Imax AR because cropping them to 2.35 is reducing their 3D experience by what i've been noticing by people comments.

Would be nice. Doctor Strange is one of the movies which shine in 3D

We will be looking for 3D representation on this title, including a requirement of one 3D show (matinee) on all PLF (Premium Large Format) and IMAX screens.
Taken from an official communication source, this is for NA not sure how it will be handled WW.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that the Avatar 2 trailer is supposed to drop with Doctor Strange 2. So they want to make sure the 3D trailer will get out there. Very wishful thinking, but I'd love to believe Cameron is pushing 3D this hard again.

Probably why they paired the trailer with it. I assume Sam Raimi is making a "3D experience" for Doctor Strange 2 as well since Oz the Great and Powerful had great 3D, and the first Doctor Strange had great 3D VFX sequences.

I think everyone is overestimating how much control James Cameron has over how Disney releases his film in theaters, but especially on home video. There is no precedent for Disney releasing a 20th Century Studios production on Blu-ray 3D. Very good chance that will not happen, so go see it in theaters.

I wonder if Fox might not have sold out, or have been barred from sale, if Cameron had gotten Avatar 2 out sooner.

With the consensus being that theatrical 3D is weaker than home 3D, and with theaters not seeming keen on investing in their 3D hardware, is it going to be too weak?

I wouldn’t expect a full trailer yet, more like a minute teaser if that. Thor love and thunder is coming out in 3 months and not even a teaser trailer yet, I would expect that one before Avatar 2.

Theatrical 3D is not weaker than home 3D. You can't change the camera separation after the film has already been shot or already finished conversion or rendering. There's just one version of these 3D films because they are very expensive to make. They are basically the same thing at home in 1080p and at the cinema in 2K. The only difference you might perceive is the quality of the display. If you're going to see it in cinema, I recommend you choose one that you know has a high standard for screen calibration and quality luminescence. For example, Digital IMAX screens are always great. The AMCs and Cinemarks around me look great. Even the Regals nearest me are fine. But I'll never go back to a Premiere Cinema ever again, for 3D or 2D. Last time I went, I got up and asked for a refund because they were cropping a scope film to fit a 1.85:1 screen.

I'm going to try to see Avatar 2 in 4K 3D, 48fps on a giant screen. My TV can't do that. It's 42in, 1080p passive and only does 23.976fps due to Blu-ray 3D standard. It's actually going to look way better in cinema than it ever can at home until I upgrade my home theater and the next generation of 3D home tech arrives and Disney starts manufacturing 3D discs again.

This. Absolutely. It’s the exact same left and right eye views in the cinema as it is on 3D Blu-ray. The reason I think people maybe sometimes think there’s a difference could be down to the huge variety of screen size/seating distances and projector quality they may experience in the cinema, whereas at home they’re generally set-up for something close to optimal?

Personally I’ll be aiming to see Avatar 2 at the cinema in 3D at 24 fps first, then at 48 fps (or “VFR”) out of curiosity. It’ll be really interesting to see what the mainstream punters at large have to say about its 3D. Will it be “3D is Back!” or “3D is Dead!” headlines..? We’ll have to wait and see. One thing I’d bet the farm on though, sadly, is it will do nothing to revive 3D television production: It’s too late (or too early, you could say) for that.

As for Strange 2, if they do put an Avatar 2 trailer up with it, I'll close my eyes and cover my ears: Surely I'm not the only person around here who doesn't want to see a trailer for a movie that they know they're going to see? I don't want it spoiled in any way - and "Spoilers", for me, doesn't just mean story, it means visuals/dialogue/tone etc too.

Avatar 2 is going to have non-VFR showings? I'm hoping that the borderline mythical clout of Cameron will put the kibosh on treating "the way it is meant to be seen" as a special event.

We're already lucky to get 2 3D showings per day, and even in 2019 it was a chore to find a HFR showing of Gemini Man. On a related note, since I broke out a PlayStation to play 3D blus, I've been doing some 3D gaming and there's a series of high-motion kinetic games where the first is at 60 FPS and the second is at 30. Reviewers tried to sugar-coat the downgrade by saying that the "movie-tier" motion blur makes up for the jerkiness of only having 50% of the temporal resolution. Moral of the story is that reviewers were wrong, 30 FPS + motion blur looks staccato, like stop motion with Vaseline slathered on the camera, and brings to mind the ole Jackson Browne song "Doctor, My Eyes"

If Cameron is specifically shooting scenes for 48 FPS then only getting half of those frames comes with similar issues.

What I don't understand is why are they waiting so long to come out with this? It's done. Covid is pretty much a thing of the past. Let's get on with it.

I only hope that someone releases a blu for this. After my last theater visit I swore to never go again. People are simply rude as hell anymore. If you are going to watch a movie, leave the damn cell phones off.
